Today is the Sindhi festival of Thadri / Satay. Some parts of Gujarat/ Kutch also celebrate and call it Sheetla Satam ( correction needed ). At my home we cooked these Lolas - thick sweet rotis yesterday. The traditional legend goes that there was a chickenpox manifestation which caused boils on body. the cause was anger of Sheetla Mata. So to please her no Sindhi would cook food today. All food was cooked yesterday and we eat cold food all day today

This led to another tradition. Since women were free from cooking , they were allowed to gamble all day ( men included ). Can we call it women's liberation ?
