All the benches are up and in place. I picked lumber up today to fill in the pallets where there’s big gaps. We were able to recycle all of these. There’s lots of organizing going on now and transplanting. The spaces are filling fast!

Eggs are officially at the stand. So that means the stand is open!! Unfortunately to not make anyone mad I raised prices. I have been the cheapest around and it’s not something I want to do honestly because feed is the same price and I recycle egg cartons… but to keep peace they are now 4$ a doz. I do take egg cartons at the stand. But just know my stand is honorary and open to you leaving what you can afford on anything up there 💚

Update! My kiddos have been curious about propagating so they learned today. They really enjoyed helping me and that makes my heart so happy. Terra cotta arrived on Friday and some other goodies. We got the check-out bar moved down. We’ve had this for 20 years and now found another way to use it. It’s served so many different ways and functions for us through the years, then the little island we had in our kitchen we saved and now it will serve as a drink station and first aid area.

Propagation is underway! Sooo sooo much to cut and root! I hope everyone is as excited as I am! Being able to work nonstop in my greenhouse makes me so very happy. I also have three houseplant shipments coming in with new varieties to add to my collection! Next week plugs of all things start arriving. If you drive by and see my doors open to the greenhouse and see me please come say hi! I invite you in! But beware we are not completely setup.

1000 ranunculus were soaked and planted last week. They’ve been moved down to the gravel to allow them cool weather to get established. I can’t wait to offer these as cut flowers 😍. I hope to transition the floral side to just use what I grow. It’s gonna take me a bit to get it down and I’ll have to grow a bit larger, but one day I hope to be self reliant on my own flowers. 💚 I also signed up for another course of schooling to teach me more about this transition. 📚🌸

It’s been 6 years since adding new chickens to the flock. Today I received the first set of 2. We lost our rooster to a possum early fall so we added another one back in. He’s a Chocolate Orpington. The yellow and black babies are a new breed I’ve never had, they are called Exchequer Leghorns.

Update!! It was a busy weekend here with warmer weather after getting another round of snow and very very cold weather….kiddos were out of school for 3 days. I had to shift all deliveries because single digit weather isn’t ideal for flower/plant deliveries. I’m grateful everyone was willing to wait it out with me. Seed starting has been underway for a few weeks. I had to get creative until my outlets get installed in my greenhouse, luckily my flower shop is the perfect place. Chives, oregano, lisianthus and pansies were among the first to get started, these should be moved to the greenhouse this week and another set will be underway. Its a fun continuous cycle for the next few months. I already moved a few trays of citronella geraniums and a few other fun plants I took cuttings of down to the greenhouse, so tomorrow I seed a few more trays to fill my mats back up.

I did these floral pieces a few weeks ago to honor a grandmother. They surrounded her urn. Never ever hesitate to contact me for pricing on large pieces. These bring so much joy when building.

I’ve learned in the past few months that I love building growers choice and custom orders rather than the memberships. I have stepped back from one of the memberships and choosing only growers choice orders so I can continue to follow my heart and be able to offer creations I actually enjoy building. Which also allows me to concentrate on the greenhouse more and get that ready for open house!

Thank you for all the support on Valentine’s Day. There were 4 sets of deliveries that went out and several pickups. I slept 12hrs whew exhausted! I’m grateful for my husband and father n law who delivered along side me and my mom who came down and hung at the shop, but also cleaned it up for me while I was out delivering.

Valentine’s Day is a few days away! I still have slots for delivery and I also will offer pickups Thursday and Friday if you’d like to get a bouquet or want me to make a custom arrangement just swing by my shop. Make sure to call before please just incase I slipped out on a delivery. Running things myself and being a mom is a bit tricky sometimes.

Update!

The greenhouse got its second tier of shelving up over the weekend, now I can start sowing seeds and have a place for everything to go while we get the other benches in. The checkout bar has been moved down as well.

The shop door got to be opened and fresh air was let in, I had to setup a temporary seed sowing area with heat mats so I made this little area in my shop in front of the glass garage door to sow seeds at. I’ve already started propagating my 19year old hibiscus and a citronella geranium. Next up are the herbs and pansies. Reason this is in the house is because electricity has been delayed with winter so there are no plugins yet in the greenhouse.

Week 2 of classes were by far the hardest. Mapping out my gardens have been really hard, but I got it done with still a lot of space. Today I work on my seed sowing schedule so I know when to start the seeds and keep track. Kiddos are home from school today due to icy roads this morning. I’ve luckily rescheduled orders for delivery tomorrow to allow myself home with the kids.

This is so very true. Just call the florist directly, because you get the full order you paid for. Even though I’m apart of a few of these, I only make 65% of the sale. It helps to fill the gap while getting the word out about my shop but it also hurts. I hope one day soon I will get more direct orders than through these.

Verify you are dealing with a real business, not an 800 number company out of the country.

I grew up in the heart of Kansas City, MO, and when I say the heart I mean just minutes from downtown and the stadium. I watch the Kansas City Chiefs football team play every time they are on from a kid to now. Our family would gather and watch them when I was a kid every Sunday. They weren’t a winning team when I was a growing up, but we still stood by them. My favorite player was Neil Smith it was the only jersey I ever had. Speed up to now seeing them go to the Super Bowl yet again is mind blowing!!! I have gotten orders to represent the chiefs in many ways. Then some arrangements just have that overall feel. If you need flowers for Super Bowl Sunday please let me know I will have these colors! GO CHIEFS!!!!

I have a lot of people wondering about my little floral shop. My little floral shop is located in one of our garages where is has lots of windows, a glass garage door to allow lots of sunlight in for me and its own entrance. Me and my husband did all the work together. I have a floral display cooler I keep all flowers in. Having my shop at my home allows me to still be near my kiddos when they are at school and the transition from me being a stay at home mom for the past 11 years to now a business owner has allowed me to step into this new role slowly, easier and economically, but still be the mom I love to be. I also get to be near my secret garden full of flowers to be able to pick flowers daily when in season and my greenhouse is a walk away. As you can see the shop is loaded full of vases and baskets that were just restocked with more on the way.
