Just a little update here at Paula’s Petals;

Classes started for me on Friday. Homework assignment is a vision board. Everything I chose so far has grabbed me deep.

Being snowed in allowed me to re-organize our library, clean my floral shop and clean most of the greenhouse up. Kiddos were out of school and schooling from home all week. We ended up getting about 10-12” of snow from the two storms and a half an inch of ice under all that.

Valentines is right around the corner, get your floral orders in early, I’ll be offering pickups and if the weather is about 35 I’ll have flowers at the honorary stand.

Roses, Asparagus, blackberry, raspberry, strawberry and grape starts have been ordered. Soil, pots and more have also been ordered. Gearing up to open and be able to offer goods has been exciting to do.

Update on the greenhouse!

What a sight this was this morning! Electricity is underway!! Water lines were finished yesterday, no more filling buckets up and hauling them down from the house.

I am working on florals through December 24th until 1pm. Then I close down for Christmas. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any florals needed. I also have other colors of flowers for birthdays and such if need be. I work with all budgets.

I hope to open the greenhouse for visitors mid-late January. I’d love everyone to be able to come see the space and see what to expect for spring and the coming months. Once electric gets put in I will be starting all the herbs from seeds and propagating things that will allow me to cut. I cannot wait to share this with you all.

Just a fun update:

Kiddos picked 16 lemons from our 2 year old lemon tree. We have many recipes we want to try now. Please share some of your favorite recipes we could try using the lemons.

I was able to till my cut flower garden under yesterday and prep the near side for 1300 tulips and all the alliums, daffodils and other spring bulbs. The backside will get manure added then tilled under and left unplanted until spring so the manure has enough time to set. Peat will be added as I plant to help soften the clay. Soil amending is a long process, but being in year two I feel more confident this year that things will grow much better.

Update on the greenhouse; We have been waiting on electricity for quite awhile.. it’s been a very very exhausting few weeks with the cold nights.. we’ve managed to keep it above 36 degrees , I have lost plants but nothing that can’t be replaced. We still have a few more weeks before it’s really up and running.. frustrating to still be pushed back another few weeks to even begin work..when our pending ticket has been open since October… but we are trying to stay positive and take it one day at a time. Our pole stakes went in yesterday and a few more trees will come out. We are grateful for the nice weekend so we can finish any loose ends and I can really begin cleaning things up and getting more adjusted. I’ve been down for the past 10 days with really bad joint pains in every inch of my body, so I have been unable to do anything at the greenhouse. If you’ve seen me out delivering and hobbling around just know I am fighting it and beating the pain as much as possible. I hope I’m on the mend as I feel so much better today, I now wait for blood tests to come back see if anything more is going on.

Holiday arrangements have kept me very busy! I’m fully stocked on flowers and will be through the holiday season. I deliver to a wide area including, Raymore, Peculiar, Greenwood, Harrisonville, Lone Jack, Kingsville, Holden, Strasburg, Lake Winnebago, Lake Latowana, Creighton, Garden City, East Lynne, and Lees Summit if it’s south of 50hwy. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything. I also have other colors of flowers available for other occasions. Please share. I also have amaryllis bulbs available in a variety of colors.

Happy Sunday!

Update on the greenhouse! Gas tank was delivered and filled, the heater is installed. We unfortunately are still waiting on the electricity so we have a few heaters keeping it from freezing at night. I started unloading all the pallets of plants and getting benches in place. I unfortunately had to take a week to rest my body after moving all the plants, then unloading again, lifting the benches and cinder blocks it caught up to me. I did get all my plant pots and trays and a few pieces of merchandise to sell. The steps getting here is so very exciting but also a lot of hard work.

Lots of floral arrangements were delivered these past few weeks. I truly appreciate every order.

I will be delivering through Wednesday Nov 27 and there will be bouquets at the stand for pickup Sunday Nov 24 through Thursday Nov 28. Ran by the honor system (leave what you feel they are worth or what you can). If you need something made special I can do that as well. I’m fully stocked with flowers.

Update on the Greenhouse: Ventilation and heating unit will get hooked up this weekend. Then we schedule electric, gas and water hookups. But in the past 3 days l got all plants moved in. I’m one tired lady. 26 pallets of plants and all the racks made their way in.
