Happy International Women's Day!
This is one of our favorite days every year, because it gives a chance to highlight the industry pioneers that began in the Phoenix Mill!
During the 1920's, the Phoenix Mill was home to an all-female workforce, making the same, famous $5 a day the men did working for Ford Motor Company. These women had strict rules for dress-code and marital status.
During the 1940's, the Phoenix Mill was switched over to production for military components for wartime. The women of the Phoenix Mill were one of the first groups of women to enter the industrial labor force, placing their mark on history.
We are truly honored that we get to share this history in countless tours and events, so that the memory of these trailblazers can live on.
