That’s right, the Palomares Adobe is open to the public from 9am to 4pm this Sunday, April 23! This open house is part of the Heart of the Foothills event, a free event where the roads on the route are closed to cars to let people walk, skate, bike, and explore their neighborhoods! That does mean it might be more of a challenge to park nearby if you are driving.

The route does not have to be completed start to finish, you are welcome to explore any section or area of it you choose! You can even just enjoy the open houses along the way!

The east end is in Claremont at First Street and Indian Hill, and it travels down Arrow, Fulton, and Bonita to the west end in San Dimas, at Bonita and San Dimas.

You can find out more about the rest of the route at 626GoldenStreets.com !

We at HSPV hope that everyone had a good Memorial Day, and that everyone took time to reflect on the sacrifices members of the Armed Forces make for us every day.

We hope you made it to the American Legion's (Drive-By) Parade this morning. If you missed it, check out this 1950 Memorial Day procession on Second Street. Thank you to the Pomona Public Library for this one.

If you, a friend, or family member are a veteran, or if you'd just like to give your support, please check out American Legion Post 30 Pomona. They provide job, health, housing, and other supports to Pomona Valley veterans. Hey, history buffs! Looking for something to do? The Library of Congress is looking for volunteers to help transcribe and review historic documents. Having documents and photos online is a crucial part of furthering research and giving people access to their history. It's also just a lot of fun.

Crowdsourcing project By the People invites anyone to become a Library of Congress virtual volunteer. Explore, transcribe, review, and tag digital collections to improve search and readability and open new avenues of research.

In order to protect the health of our visitors, members, volunteers, and staff, we are suspending public tours of the Casa Primera. We will reassess the situation on April 1 and determine whether it is safe to reopen.

We will miss sharing our history with you on these tours, and we look forward to reopening and seeing everyone again.
