Although biblical characters, we want American accents and we consider actors of every race and ethnicity. Actors need to know these are long monologues, and must have command of all the material. These are filmed monologues of modern interpretations of historical biblical characters to communicate the messages of the Bible from a new vantage point. They illustrate the stories that the authors may have heard from several characters featured. These monologues weave first century political, geographical, and cultural factors to help heighten the understanding of context of the books. Although historically based, these characters have additional personality traits and story lines to create a greater resonance for the viewer.
Tone: The videos aim to strike a tone between first century and modern day. Between the intensity of a classical monologue and the personal connection of a documentary interview. We further underscore the tone by combining historical content with modern American English. Characters address camera. They are intense but ring true. The intent of the characters and essence of the scripts are timeless. We want the viewer to see characters they may have heard about as people like themselves.
The Actors: We are looking for modern-day actors from all walks of life. Good actors that can compel us with their storytelling, and are relatable in a very real, contemporary way. Theater actors with the ability to memorize large chunks of material are welcome but on-camera actors with a great ability to be real and genuine without falling into "Bible performance" is the goal. These monologues will be 15-30 minutes in length and will be shot with multiple cameras with cutaways.
Storyline: The purpose of the Eyewitness Bible Series is to help people learn and understand the Bible. Eyewitness that consist of more than 150 video narratives and study guides useful for individuals, families, small groups and churches. The material is entertaining and uniquely effective. And free!
BREAKDOWN OF ROLES
[SCRIBE] 35-45 year old male, any ethnicity. A brilliant mind with the rare gift of making the complex feel effortless. Think Lin-Manuel Miranda meets Mahershala Ali—intellectual but never intimidating, effortlessly cool yet completely grounded. Scribe is a bridge between worlds, straddling cultures with ease, fluent in both the scholarly and the street-level. A master communicator, he carries the weight of history on his shoulders but delivers it with the kind of charisma that draws people in rather than pushing them away. He’s not just knowledgeable—he’s magnetic. THIS ROLE WILL BE ASSIGNED TWO SCRIPTS, SO THE RATE WILL BE $2,500 AND POTENTIALLY TWO DAYS, BUT MAYBE JUST ONE.
[APOSTLE JOHN] 25-25-year-old any ethnicity male. A rare soul—equal parts adventurer, philosopher, and heart-on-his-sleeve idealist. He’s the guy who can build a fire from nothing, listen like his life depends on it, and see the divine in a sunset. John isn’t just patient—he’s unwaveringly present. He thinks deeply, loves deeply, but always from a place of wonder, never cynicism. The world, to him, is a masterpiece, and people? His favorite part. If there’s someone in need, he’s already rolling up his sleeves. Warm, rugged, and utterly magnetic—his presence alone makes you believe in something bigger.
[APOSTLE THOMAS] 25-35-year-old male, any ethnicity. If New Testament figures had podcasts, Thomas would have the highest engagement rate. Focused, sharp-witted, and relentless in his pursuit of truth, he’s the guy who asks what everyone else is thinking but won’t say out loud. If he weren’t a disciple, he’d be a viral social media personality, pacing the streets of Manhattan, dropping brutally honest, ironically insightful one-liners that make you rethink everything. He’s not cynical—he’s just unwilling to settle for easy answers. His faith, when found, is unshakable, because he’s tested it. Relatable, compelling, and dangerously charismatic, Thomas isn’t just searching for the truth—he demands it.
[MATTHEW] 35-45 year-old any ethnicity male. A face that tells a story—one of late nights, hard bargains, and choices made out of necessity rather than virtue. The miles have left their mark, not just on his face, but in his eyes—sharp, calculating, always scanning the room. He’s not just smart, he’s street smart—a man who knows the angles, the risks, and the price of survival. There was a time when money was the only scorecard that mattered, and in that world, he played to win. But deep down, beneath the hardened exterior, there’s a man wrestling with something bigger than the next deal—the question of what it all really adds up to.
[CAIAPHAS] 50-65-year-old any ethnicity male. A man who doesn’t just command respect—he expects it. His presence alone is enough to silence a room. He carries himself with the certainty of someone who knows his position is earned, his authority unquestioned. And yet... something lingers. A hesitation, a flicker of doubt, a crack in the foundation of his certainty. He has spent a lifetime mastering the rules, the politics, the weight of power. He knows how to lead. He knows how to judge. But what he doesn’t know is why, for the first time, he’s questioning whether he’s on the right side of history.
[TEKTON] 30-45-year-old any ethnicity male. A natural storyteller—the kind of guy who can turn a simple day’s work into an epic tale, complete with hand gestures and sound effects. Funny? Absolutely. Maybe even a little corny at times, but in a way that only makes him more endearing. He’s the guy you want at your table, swapping stories over a meal. A builder in every sense—of things, of ideas, of connections. There’s a salt-of-the-earth honesty about him, a rough-edged wisdom earned from years of shaping stone and wood with his own hands. And deep down, he has no doubt —if Jesus were here, He’d be laughing at his jokes.
[SHEPHERDESS] 21-30-year-old any ethnicity female. Fearless. Not in the loud, attention-seeking way—but in the quiet, unshakable way that makes people take notice. Whether facing down a storm, a wild animal, or a skeptic twice her size, she never wavers. She moves through a man’s world with a steady stride and a clear mind, not because she’s trying to prove anything, but because she already knows exactly who she is. She speaks plainly, acts decisively, and carries herself with the certainty of someone who has weathered both the land and life itself. She doesn’t just survive—she thrives, standing firm in what she believes is the only way to live.
