If you live in Poplar Grove, please consider Kristi for your vote! I have had numerous conversations with her, and I feel she is truly all about supporting, building community, and has the town’s best interests at heart! She volunteers endlessly and is a true asset to our community!

:::ANNOUNCEMENT:::

Over the last 8 months we have all continued to witness the ongoing and unnecessary drama that has plagued our community from moving forward. It is that unnecessary drama and a few personal family reasons why I chose to resign as Village Trustee last February. It was all too clear that focusing on Village needs was not the priority. Although I do not regret the decision I made at the time, I will not sit on the sidelines while our community continues to struggles.

I have decided to run for the Village President of Poplar Grove.

I have been humbled by all the residents who have reached out to me asking, encouraging, and pleading with me to run for this position. I am grateful for your support.

At first when this was suggested to me, I was hesitant, because I wanted to ensure I was ready for the political mudslinging that would ensue and how that would affect myself and my family.

Since the end of May, I have re-engaged the community, and it has become clear the residents of Poplar Grove are looking for an advocate who is community centric, respectful and open to all ideas, questions and opinions brought forth. Someone who is an effective communicator ensuring positive, transparent, and relevant information is provided to the community on an on-going basis and an individual who has a balanced approach to addressing community issues and concerns. I believe I have demonstrated to be all those characteristics.

It is also clear to me the people are exhausted with the ongoing drama that has continued to hinder our community from moving forward in a positive manner. I believe I have shown I can conduct myself in a positive professional manner that will help rebuild trust among our residents, the incoming board, the village staff and our vendors.

Going forward, we have choice. We can continue to let past ideas, past conflicts, and past poor behaviors continue to plague our town or we can make a change.

I believe in putting community first!

I am ready to lead Poplar Grove to a more positive future. One that focuses on the needs and desires of its residents, businesses, and non-profit organizations. One that wants to see our children, families, friends, and businesses thrive, truly making this a great place to call home.

I can’t get over these pictures. I had been anxiously awaiting Kelsey & Austin’s wedding for what seemed like forever! My favorite color palette is any combo of bold colors, and Kelsey was not scared to infuse every detail with all the best colors! She knew what she wanted her day to look like, and we kicked it up to the next level!

This was no easy task, and I am forever grateful to the six freelancers who helped bring all the pieces to life!

Hidden Creek Estates is such a beautiful venue- a great place to host your wedding or next event, and to also grab a bite and a beverage during their wine bar nights!

EK Cakery NEVER disappoints with her cakes and sweets! Her stunning bespoke artistry is only rivaled by her expertly paired flavor combinations. Erica, the owner, is just as sweet as her treats, and is a pleasure to work with!

And last but not least, Erik Anderson-Photography 1000000% nailed it! I can’t stop looking at these photos. Breathtaking, stunning, jaw dropping… I could go on, and that doesn’t even begin to do his work justice! I’m a HUGE fan of the light and airy aesthetic, and this was the first time he captured a wedding we have done. I hope it won’t be the last time! He had excellent time management and control over getting the shots taken, and was a pleasure to speak with during the down time along with the videographer and EK Cakery!

So incredibly sad. I'm so glad there are so many people and organizations who were willing to help! It took one person (or a small handful of people) to do such an atrocious thing, and it took so, so many more to try to turn this around. I'm proud to be in a community full of such love.

Prayers for all the pups- I hope they all come through ok and find the loving homes they deserve.

We are fully booked for 2024 and through March 2025!

ANNOUNCEMENT: 2025 we will only be booking one or two full service weddings/events PER MONTH. We have given a lot of thought and prayer behind this decision. There’s been a lot of change on our end, and we want to continue to enjoy and have passion for creating the pieces for each and every couple who choose us for their day.

Floristry is amazing- I love just about every part about it. On the flip side, it is very physical, and I want to be actually physically able to do this for many years instead of loading up my calendar now and burning out physically, mentally, and running out of energy.

Our books are currently closed due to having a full calendar, but if you want to confirm availability for your date and be the first on our wait list, feel free to DM us! We should be booking some dates in mid-July and then in August. When our books are open, we will reach out to you to see if you’re still looking for a florist, and then we will proceed from there with a consultation (virtual or in person).

Our availability for 2025:
Jan - Mar: Booked
April & May - Available
June: Booked
July & Aug: Available
September: Booked
October & November: Available
December: Booked

This means we are only booking between 5 and 10 other weddings in 2025… depending on size and difficulty.

If you've never smelled freesia, you seriously need to. It doesn't smell anything like candles or type body spray (not dissing those items, just saying two totally different scents). It's one of my fave flowers and absolutely my fave flower scent! I'm SO happy when couples choose it for their wedding because I get to enjoy it for.several days!

Mark it on your calendar!!

I can't tell you how EXCITED we are for this year's first ever SPRING PG Community Market. It is shaping up to be an amazing event with over 45+ local vendors offering goods and services across 3 categories (1) growers/farmers/ranchers/food providers (2) crafters/artisans (3) local businesses & organizations.

We've moved locations due support the growing the demand and will be blocking off a large section of N. Hill Street (Poplar Grove) in front of the Village Hall.

We've also added many new food trucks and food providers to create a "Food Court" to tantalize your taste buds. Kids can have their face painted and vendor passports are available for the kids to complete for a prize...all while music will be playing.

In November (I think) of 2022, I was ran off the road during the first snow by a yellow pick up truck that lost control. My van was totaled. This pic was taken on New Years Eve 2022… and we picked up the new van a couple days later.

One year, two months, and 3 weeks later, the transmission goes out as I was headed to Rockford for a salon’s grand opening celebration to congratulate them.

I say all this to give a special shout out to for getting to me on the side of 76 within about 15 minutes and they’ve already contacted me to get the ball rolling on diagnosing and fixing it. Thank you for helping, and we will always use you when possible and should the need arise! (Hoping I won’t need you for a while after this! 😂)

Such a good time last night night!! ALWAYS! I organized an event for some of the Stateline's best vendors to get together to socialize & network. It was so much fun!

We are celebrating women this whole month by telling you about amazing women-owned businesses in the Stateline! 🎉

Today, we’re featuring Poplar Grove Floral! 💐

Sarah Haywood opened Polar Grove Floral in March 2021 drawing on her 20+ years of floral design experience. Sarah loves to be able to create beautiful florals for her clients on some of the most significant days of their lives. She uses flowers to emote different feelings on these memorable days. Each of their pieces is custom and she collaborates with the client to fulfil their vision.

Poplar Grove Floral specializes in weddings, events and funerals. Sarah is passionate about making the details of a big day perfect. They also offer monthly subscriptions, bouquet/flower bars (private and public), and ticketed class events where they sometimes partner with EK Cakery in Belvidere. You can also find them at markets and pop-ups throughout the Stateline! They can preserve flowers from a special occasion like a wedding or funeral, and turn them into a keepsake for their customers. Their next event is at The Standard on March 21st for a wedding vendor gathering. They will also be doing a collab with EK Cakery and Hidden Creek Estates in April!
