We are looking for servers for a private event in Batavia, Ohio on Saturday, June 22nd.

Time: 4:30-8:00
Attire: black dress shirt and slacks, apron provided.
Qualifications: Must be 15 years or older. Must be upbeat and willing to work efficiently in a fast paced environment, meeting guests’ needs according to Clydesdale Catering Company’s standards. Servers will not be waiting tables, but rather serving on a serving line and will be responsible for cleaning up.
Compensation: $100 (plus tips, if applicable) Dinner provided.

It’s all in the details…

Homemade lasagna ready for the oven 🤌

Pro tip-
Add about 1/2 cup of water (per pound of meat) to your pan ehen browning ground meat if you want super fine crumbles for lasagna or other dishes!

Be sure to top your dishes with a different type of cheese (such as this shredded parmesan) and/or herb (such as this dried parsley) to make it more presentable. It’s a super way to make your dish stand out! Remember-you eat with your eyes first!

I guess you can say cooking is a hereditary gene! Both of my grandmas grew up in the mountains of West Virginia and cooked how their mamas taught them to! They were both fantastic cooks. One taught my mama, and the other taught my dad-both of who were and are amazing cooks!

Although I never met my dad and don't really remember my mom's mom, I know this for sure-I come from a long line of country cooks! Measure with your heart, cook from memory, add the secret ingredient of love to every dish-you get the idea! I guess that's why it's so hard for me to give recipes-I don't use them myself and can never remember how much of what all I used!

Sure, we love cooking the fancy, look pretty dishes, but nothing beats the meals like what we're having for dinner tonight! Pinto beans, cornbread, and roasted acorn squash (obviously with pure Ohio maple syup and lots of butter)! Comfort food like that is perfect for these chilly, rainy fall nights!

Tonight I'm thankful for those who taught me how to cook and for those who taught them!

One of the main questions I get asked at just about every catering event is "How do you do it?"

My answer every time is this--"Only with the help of Jesus and Jessica"

This girl right here, though she swears she did not marry me to help cater, is my biggest help in every aspect! After working together for 3 years, I often wonder which one of us are really in charge!

You don't see her around at events too often as she's normally hiding and doing dishes in the back, but she puts up with so much and manages to keep me sane along the way!

I am beyond thankful for you, Jessica Ann! I can't do events like this week without you!

When I think of visiting my grandmas house in the summer while growing up, I think of swimming, hiking, and all the different salads she used to make! Grandpa would grill, she'd make some salads, and we'd sit out on the patio picnic table and eat! Grandma was the main one that taught me how to cook, and I still use a lot of her recipes! This is one of my favorites of her summer salads! Now, if you'll excuse me, it's time to sit outside and enjoy a big bowl of it for dinner!

Grandma's Broccoli Slaw

For the salad:
1 bag broccoli slaw mix
2 packages ramen noodles (any flavor)
1/3 cup sliced almonds, toasted
1/3 cup sunflower seeds

For the dressing:
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
3/4 cup olive oil
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 packets ramen noodle seasoning

1-combine all dressing ingredients in small sauce pan, bring to boil, stir to combine and set aside to cool
2-crush ramen noodles and toast in dry skillet on medium heat (just until slightly colored)
3-combine all ingredients, mix, and serve chilled!

Note: This is not a salad that sits well in the refrigerator for long periods of time, so if you're anticipating leftovers, mix salad ingredients and add dressing when ready to serve!
