IT'S NATIONAL ROOT BEER FLOAT DAY!!!!!!

The unique fusion of ice cream with root beer is unlike anything else. This summertime delicacy has a history as rich as its texture and flavor!
Frank J. Wisner, the owner of Colorado’s Cripple Creek Brewing, is the person to thank for creating the root beer float on August 19, 1893. The idea behind this extraordinary innovation came to Wisner when he was looking at the snowy peaks of Colorado’s Cow Mountain that gave the illusion of ice cream floating on a beverage. While staring out of the window of the Cripple Creek Cow Mountain Gold Mining Company, Wisner thought the glow of the full moon made the snow-capped mountains resemble ice cream.
The following day, Wisner got to work combining vanilla ice cream with root beer and calling the result the ‘Black Cow Mountain.’ The soda he had used was Myers Avenue Red Root Beer. The root beer float was served to his guests the very next day and became an instant hit. Children shortened the word to ‘Black Cow,’ and today it is simply known as root beer float.
So....doesn't that make you want a nice cold one?????

As I said before, Catering Connections has been busy this hurricane season...I wanted to share one specific wedding we were to cater in the past month. The bride and groom were Julie and Zach and their wedding was to be September 27th, the day Hurricane Helene hit. The wedding was suppose to be in Cape San Blas. Unfortunately, everyone was under mandatory evacuation orders. Their family and friends has to evacuate to Destin. 30 people including cousins who lived in Spain and had flown here for the wedding. Catering Connections got the food done the day before and sent it with the bride and groom to enjoy during their wedding which was held the next day in Destin. So what makes this story special? Well, the bride and groom were so appreciative that we had done their food ahead of time so they could take it with them, and despite the fact that the evacuation was mandatory, they offered to send over some "muscle" to help us finish our hurricane preparations. You cannot imagine how touched we were when the bride and groom themselves showed up to help sandbag in the pouring rain. By the time we were done, the food was packed and ready. Julie and Zach said the weather and the wedding turned out to be perfect and that they were enjoying the food so much that they almost forgot to take pictures. Seeing them be so calm and laughing through the whole situation prompted me to tell them that "if you can get through a hurricane on their wedding day with love and laughter, then they will be able to literally whether any storm that comes their way" Catering Connections -- just one call and your feed all...850-541-8176

Over the last 6 years, we have worked with brides and their families as they selected menu items for rehearsal dinners and receptions for their destination wedding in our beachside town . As more families began to ask for bridal lunches and “day after” breakfasts, Catering Connections was born and now proudly offers a greater selection of delectable dishes for our guests to choose from.

Starting in 2019, Catering Connections now offers delivery service. Call us as soon as you arrive at your rental house (or even before) to select and schedule meals for just 1 day or EVERY day of your vacation. We’ll deliver your favorite foods so you can spend more time at the beach and less time in the kitchen or waiting for a table in a restaurant.
