Hi friends! I wanted to take a moment to honor my beloved grandmother, Edythe, here on the feed and to take a moment to explain where I’ve been this winter.

After a brief illness, my beloved grandmother Edythe, my kindred spirit, entered hospice on November 16th. By December 8, she was home with my sister and I, who became her full time caregivers.

I’ve called myself the “hostess with the mostess” for awhile now but “hosting hospice” was entirely new territory for me. In hindsight, it was an enormous task but we took it bit by bit and did a fantastic job. We let our instincts and love guide us, and we gave her the longest, most tender goodbye full of so much laughter and ice cream you might not believe it. On January 25th, Edythe embarked on the biggest and most unknowable adventure there is. I feel great peace; we all do.

In the kind of way that pressure yields diamonds, this experience helped to clarify some of my professional plans for the year ahead. Edythe was very big hearted and she had fantastic boundaries so I am excited to honor her ancestral spirit by sharing these new standards, practices, and policies with you soon.

Oh hi! 👋🏼 I almost didn’t see you there!

My name’s Alexis! I’ve been described as a multi-passionate multi-hyphenate, communitarian, excellent wedding guest, bossy older sister, writer, leader, and “big golden retriever energy” whatever that means to you!

Like many others, I ditched the corporate hamster wheel in 2020 and jumped into entrepreneurship feet first. I remember saying to some colleagues on one very rough day that I “just want to use my gifts.” That feels like a dramatic and perhaps haughty statement in hindsight, but it’s important to me that I work to my full creative capacity! 🙇🏼‍♀️

So it all started with reopening in October 2020. Learned a LOT (hey, Lorelei Gilmore makes it look easy!) but just kept failing forward. I convinced my wonderful sister to join me in PT to run the hotel, and she did! 👯‍♀️

Pretty quickly, I realized our guests were making up for lost time. Soo many sweethearts chose to honeymoon in PT in lieu of Greece or Bora Bora or other fantastic destinations and I wanted to help them elevate their trip in a safe & sustainable way. I saw an idea on the gram and within a month PT Picnics was born! 🌟

This project has grown & expanded so much in 2 years! We have a storefront microvenue in downtown (🔑 ), a growing inventory of party rental items, and it’s through this community on Instagram that I met and fell in LOVE with the local event community. 💘

It turns out that I love using my gifts, but I love being in community with others who embrace and work with their gifts even more. I’ve never felt so understood by an industry. I’ve never felt so supported by women. This year we worked to create a non-profit business league for Jefferson County event pros called - I can’t wait to see where it goes! And I’ve never felt so free to be truly & authentically myself. 😊

I loved working on this Client Appreciation event for a local small business!

When I was an admin, Client Appreciation events were my JAM. I love giving recognition, sharing gratitude, and a good party!

It can be tough to juggle party planning on top of work - but the solution isn’t to opt out!

🥳 Opt in: hire a hyper local planner to put the pieces together. 🧩

For this client, I sourced the venue, catering, bevvies, and florals and seamlessly passed invoices along when payment was due.

All they had to do was show up at show time and ✨shine!✨

In case you missed it, the Supreme Court issued a ruling today that allows businesses to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation.

This was a bogus case that was brought by someone who used the wedding industry as a shield, and we won’t stand for it.

If you’re an ally, and especially if you are a wedding or event vendor, I invite you to make a donation to tonight.

Got a lot of money? Awesome, donate it. Don’t? Give the amount of a coffee and muffin, the way you’d pick up the tab for a friend. $10, folks!

Ten bucks helps Trevor to:

• Advocate against anti-LGBTQ laws and work with policymakers to pass legislation to protect LGBTQ youth

Hi friends! It’s me, Alexis!✨Today I thought I’d tell you 5 fun facts about me!

🌷 I have big golden retriever energy! 🤪 I’m optimistic by default and think life is a great adventure!

🌷 I love travel and all modes of transportation. One of my favorite places I’ve been is Dublin, Ireland. (I’m not Irish 😅)

🌷 I studied anthropology in school and love learning about local history! Prioritizing indigenous and other marginalized perspectives is very important to me.

🌷 I always knew I wanted to run a hotel like Lorelei Gilmore and now I do! I manage with my sister.

🌷 I‘ve known my husband since I was 15 but we were NOT high school sweethearts. In fact, we couldn’t stand each other when we first met! 😆

🌷 Bonus: I love emojis! I think they’re the hieroglyphics of our time and make any message more bright, colorful, and fun!

Hi friends! Just a quick reminder that I am out of office this week - I’ll respond to emails and inquiries Monday, July 25.

I am not on vacation this week! I’m spending a week immersed in my personal and creative development with at Fort Worden. It’s been a long few years since I spent this time with my writing community, and I can already feel how good this experience will be for me if I stay in it!

I get it, I do, but don’t let time spent feel like time wasted. One of the amazing things about being human is how much we learn & grow! We’re doing it all the time!

☀️ It’s totally okay if different circumstances lead you to make a different choice.

☀️ It’s absolutely fine for new or additional information to change your opinion.

☀️ It’s alright to change an offering that is no longer serving you or your customers.

Trust yourself. Just because something’s always been done one way doesn’t mean that’s the only way. Being an expert adapter is your birthright as a homo sapien - so adapt!

Once upon a time I went to Hawaii with my guy. We found a travel book that listed fantastic hidden beaches and found ourselves snorkeling all over the Big Island. One afternoon we were in a cove with several turtles, and when we came up for air there was a couple walking by. Inspired by the many friendly folks we’d met who brought us in to tide pools and coves, I said, “Hey! There’s a turtle right here if you want to take a look.” The man stared down at me with a kind of pity and said, “Yeah, I live here, see em all the time,” and walked on.

That’s kind of how I feel about the beach shelter at Fort Worden. Lotta locals look at me with a kind of pity when I say this is a delightful venue. Lotta park employees raise an eyebrow if you say you’re creating a luxe experience down there. Lotta “I live here, see it all the time” energy out there.

I don’t know what’s in my wiring, but it ain’t that. When I was contacted by this client a week and a half ago (!!!) I kind of couldn’t believe how quickly I said yes. I had met with Toby of the day before and knew he was right for the job. I’m so incredibly proud of what Toby, Millie, and I created last night! Thank you both so much for going on this ride with me!

Let me tell you a secret! 🤫

I secretly love set-ups for ✌🏼 the most! They are intimate and precious for so many occasions including but NOT limited to romance.

Time and attention is in short supply these days. Setting aside intentional time to connect with someone you care about is the gift of all gifts. Whether it’s a picnic with me, a walk down Water Street with a , a sail with or another awesome experience, make the time.✨

My challenge to you is to set aside some time with someone a little unexpected. Maybe the friend you haven’t seen in awhile, or the cousin you’d like to get to know better, or the coworker who just moved to town.
