Ziggy Stardust: Dragon for charity!

Come meet & greet with ExperimentPDX's most philanthropic bearded dragon.

Feb 8th at 1-2pm and 4-5pm Ziggy will be at Grand Fir Brewery. $1 to pet him and $1 to feed him.

All proceeds go to pet owners impacted by the California wildfires.

Lizards are not the ancestors of dinosaurs. Lepidosauria, the ancestors of modern lizards existed long before dinosaurs.

Dinosaurs and reptiles developed from the same ancestor, Archosaurs but evolutionarily branched off from each other 230 million years ago.

Birds however did evolve from the Theropod dinosaurs, like the tyrannosaurs and velociraptor 160 million years ago.

Everyone say hi to Dune, our Giant Chocolate Millipede, a species of myriapod from western Africa. Myriapods are one of the four families of arthropods, which means jointed appendage. Despite their name, millipedes do not have a thousand legs, the average number of legs is between 34 and 400. Come in and count Dune's legs sometime!

A desert species of arachnid, Vinegaroons are cousins to spiders and scorpions. They use their front legs as antennea.

Pallet Knife Painting Class

It’s “finger painting” for grownups! Join local artist Georgina for an evening of playing with color and 3D paintings.

Learn basic color theory and color mixing techniques while experimenting with 3D shapes and marks with heavy body acrylic paints and pallet knives.

Snacks will be provided

A nice pairing to our pop-up exhibition Spooky Seas, which explores deep sea fish and their ecosystems - our fossils and geology collection discuss how we learn about long extinct animals and their ecosystem!
