The circle today is at 4 pm, not 2 pm as one of the event post said. I must have made that post while we were still in Mexico where our time zone is 2 hours earlier and Facebook adjusts the time to where you are reading the post. Anyway, 4 pm at Mary Bycroft’s house. 109 NE 75th. Bring your own beverages, a snack to share if you want to, your songs, and your sense of fun. On the way be sure to pick up some immunity to the heat. Mary’s yard is well shaded so it should be fine. Let’s sing some songs.

We will host our second Old Doverlaff Songwriter Circle of our Portland visit at Artichoke Music Sunday evening at 6 p.m. If you were part of the Doverlaff Songwriters Circle, consider joining us. Doverlaff Virtual International Song Circle
Tuesday, April 27 at 6 pm PDT, 8 pm CDT and Mexico City Time

It is almost time once again for the Doverlaff Virtual International Song Circle, brought to you, as always, by the 26 letters and 12 tones that make songs in English possible. Nxt time you are out and about bring home a new set of letters and some sweet tones to use in your next creation. Available wherever English is spoken and songs are sung.

As usual, we will start at 8 pm Mexico City Time, or CDT, or 6pm PDT. It you are in another time zone, I will trust that you can deduce the time that works for where you are.

We are getting closer to no longer needing this circle. I have been playing out in a weekly gig locally and had an actual paying gig last week. We intend to restart our Doverlaff Song Cirrcle on the Terraza as soon as the vaccines are more wide spread in Mexico. Unfortunately, it is not clear when that situation will manifest itself. Until then, and maybe even after, we will continue to share songs, laughs, and, maybe, a few adult beverages mediated by electrons flowing in digitally meaningful patterns into your computational device.

I'm starting to feel like that old boll weevil, just looking for a home.

Still, cannot move into our house but it is getting so close I can taste it. This week, all the appliances will be installed, the glass in the atrium walls will be placed, all the interior work should be done. Then, just the cleaning before we start the process of returning. At last, I will have my tools and my toys. At last, I will stop whining to you about my plight. That will be a break for all of us.

I have not been able to play out or in a song circle or an open mic in months due to Mr. Covids persistent presence. Now, next Friday, March 12 at 10:30 AM until 1:30 pm I will be the featured performer at the Lake Chapala Society's cafe where Ray Dominech host a weekly event. I am so excited. I will play a set then the open mic will give you a chance to play some songs, if you feel like it, and you are in Central Mexico. I will then play another set after the open mic. Que Pasa,

Singers, Songwriters, or however you may think of yourself. You are on these mailing lists, so you must be somehow related to those terms, or you are just someone I want to stay connected to. In any case, that time has come again.

"What time?" you may ask.

Time to SING!

This coming Tuesday, February 16, 2021, you, and whomever may be interested, are invited to join us for the latest edition of the Doverlaff Virtual International Song Circle.

I know you folks the the great Northwest have felt the brunt of a powerful winter storm. I won't mention the weather here. It would seem like gloating. Still, we are wishing the best for all of you to stay warm and safe until the Solstice's promise of the return of the lights reaches fruition.

Those days of short sleeves, or no sleeves, will soon be upon us with no more of 'he who shall henceforth remain nameless,' the virus hopefully waning in the wake of a tsunami of vaccines, or 'vacunas' as we say here, and us all enjoying a world with less distress. In those days, we will meet again in small circles on porches and terrazas, at open mics, or as folk club headliners or in whatever way we share live music and good company. Share snacks and songs. Tunes and touch. Not so far away.

Until then, and still then, we will continue to share music in the only way we can right now, in the World Wide Town Hall, the interwebs. We will continue this virtual circle until it is no longer needed. In some ways, that will be sad. This forum has allowed me to remain in touch, or to regain a kind of touch with those for whom my geographic location makes in person fellowship impossible. I really enjoy seeing you and hearing you sing. I will miss that.

Anyway, Tuesday, 8 pm CST or Mexico City Time, 6 pm PST, we will log on again to spend a couple of hours with friends singing, sharing, and rejoicing in the coming return of a life more ordinary.

What a crazy freaking world we inhabit. Insurrection at the Capitol. Mad, giant baby, wannabe fascist narcissist man who has been rolled in Cheeto dust, trying to stage a bloodless coup with the help of ignorant, uneducated (for the most part,) fools who dream of a strongman (really, and their talking about tRump???) dictator who can rid their lives of libtards (like me) and folk who are not so melanin challenged as their traitorous selves, but failed in that 5 people died and the coup was aborted, despite plenty of help or at least tolerance from the Capitol Police.

What a week!!!

What can we do? Hell, we all know my answer to that question. WE CAN SING!
