Tell me a memory about your grandma, grandpa, mom or dad. What flowers remind you of them? Smells?
This is my grandma Frankie, We called her Grandma Gum because she’d give us gum when we weren’t supposed to have it. When I think of her I think of trips to Sauvie’s Island, blue herons, wildflowers on the side of the road, Queen Anne’s lace, bubble gum, bearded Iris, peonies, allium, homemade pies, shopping, corny jokes.

This is the work that truly inspires me. When you hire me to create a memorial piece, I try to learn a little bit about your loved one. I pray over it and pray for the family and friends of the person we are honoring. I pray for the soul of the one who passed. I listen to calm music that I like, and I sing along. I am purposeful of being intentional about every part of the design. Memorial pieces are the most important pieces that I make. I named my business after my grandma because it’s so important to me to honor those who came before us, who created us, and who loved us. Getting to honor your loved ones is the greatest privilege. I just delivered this piece. The family cried as they saw it. They hugged me and shook with tears in my arms. They felt the essence of their Mother’s spirit in the piece. And it was the best feeling in the world to hear and feel that from them. They gave me permission to post this. 🤍
