Our DEI pledge is what guides us when deciding who to partner with. This is one of the many reasons we’ve decided to partner with Suite Spot, “the only Black owned event space in Downtown Portland,” to host this April’s programming event.

We believe that by mindfully spending funds that support BIPOC businesses, we can make a difference and help create a more inclusive and equitable future✨

You can learn more about PDX Suite Spot and other Portland area BIPOC, Female and LGBTQ+ owned businesses by checking out AMAPDX’s Business Guide (link in comments🙂).

If you haven’t already secured a seat for this Wednesday’s “Managing Up: Collaborating to be Seen, Heard, Valued and Promoted” event, led by local CEO and equity advocate, Natalie Ruiz, be sure to register (link in the comments) ASAP!

You won’t want to miss out on this chance to take in PDX Suite Spot’s beauty while soaking up all things empowerment, compliments of Natalie Ruiz 💃🏽

We often get asked, what are the common obstacles we face as an event space.

Running an event space is a challenging task, and there are several difficulties that event space owners face. Event spaces range from small meeting rooms to large convention centers, but the difficulties faced by all event spaces are similar.

One of the major difficulties of running an event space is managing the coordination of events. We need to ensure that the space is available for the dates requested by event organizers, and that the space is adequately prepared for the event. This involves managing bookings, ensuring that the space is cleaned and maintained between events, and coordinating with the event organizers to ensure that all their requirements are met.

Another challenge faced by event space owners is marketing their space to potential clients. With so many event spaces available, standing out from the competition can be difficult. We need to have a marketing strategy that reaches the right people and convinces them that their space is the best option. This can involve advertising, social media marketing, and building relationships with event planners and other professionals in the industry.

Another major difficulty of running an event space is managing the physical space itself. Owners need to ensure that the space is safe, comfortable, and meets the needs of the events being hosted. This requires regular maintenance and updates, as well as investing in equipment and furnishings that can be used for different types of events.

Budgeting is also a major challenge for event space owners. We need to make sure that they are charging enough rent to cover their expenses, but not so much that they price themselves out of the market. This involves careful budgeting and financial management, as well as making smart decisions around investments in the space.

Finally, event space owners need to be able to handle unexpected issues that arise during an event. Whether it’s a problem with equipment, a food or beverage issue, or an emergency situation, event space owners need to be prepared to act quickly to resolve problems and ensure that the event continues without interruption.

In conclusion, running an event space is a challenging and complex task that requires a range of skills and knowledge. We also need to be adept at managing bookings, marketing their space, managing the physical space itself, budgeting, and handling unexpected issues that arise during an event.

Despite the difficulties, running an event space can be a rewarding experience for those who enjoy working with people and helping them bring their visions to life.
