It is with a very content and happy heart that I am sharing that I am closing down Say Yay.
I started Say Yay after years of being a professional event planner; I wanted to own a little shop filled with things I loved. I never quite got the hang of the behind the scenes stuff, leading to low traffic and sales.
While attempting to make some extra cash (and because my husband is insistent on not letting me get a third cat) I signed up for Rover.
I blossomed.
Caring for pets has been the greatest gift I have given myself. Say Yay was soon put on the back burner, and sometimes even forgotten. I have become so happy and content in my pet care career. And little 22 year old Jessica, who applied straight out of college to a director position at the Philly zoo (lol oh to have the confidence of a recent grad), would be so stoked to know she was surrounding herself with furry friends. If you’re in the Portland area, I’d love for you to give a follow (also let me meet your pets 😭)
I would first like to thank my husband Steve for unwavering support as I figured out what I want to be when I grow up. I came to him with an idea and he said “let’s do it.” I asked what would happen if I failed and he responded “then we will have a lifetime of paper products”
Thank you to everyone who has ever bought an item, shared a post, or stopped to chat with me at a market. I truly did do the “small business owner happy dance” you’re always hearing about.
I had thoughts of a rebrand, but I think it has run its cheerful little course. That being said, everything’s gotta go. I may periodically pop back on here to sell leftover holiday goods, and will likely host a sidewalk sale for the Portland peeps. Everything is currently on sale, and I’ll also be posting business supplies for sale.
I’ll still continue to throw some really great theme parties and am very excited to support someone else’s small biz. It’s never too late to switch things up, change your mind, set boundaries or do what’s right for yourself. We have just one life - I hope everyone is doing what makes them the happiest.
Ta ta for now ✌️
