If somebody tries to tell you that you need floral foam to keep your flowers alive and well on the hottest windiest of days, they seriously just don’t know how to replace the old ways of designs and it isn’t true.

This is one of my favorite arches I ever did. The couple’s family made it for them so they could keep it forever. It was incredibly hot that day and the venue is which gets very windy sometimes, including on this day. Everything fluttered in the wind and it looked glorious!

I have used many of the same custom designed mechanics from this arch over and over and continue to reuse them today.

Creating less waste on your wedding day should always be a goal because the wedding industry can have a massive impact on the environment - in the worst ways. Currently a lot of trends are toward fast fashion, and waste creation to save on costs. People tell themselves they can just sell decor after but here is the thing, every couple is different and it can be hard to find folks who actually want the exact same decor you used.

This year one of my clients is doing a mix of rented silk florals and other decor by my team. I am very excited and hopeful to see how this looks. Renting may not save you a lot of money over buying junk that ends up in a landfill more often then not, but it does wonders for your impact on the environment.

So many people will buy so many things for their wedding that they simply don’t need to buy and they will find difficult to resell. Yes some DIY pieces are cheaper, but your options are rent, hire a full service wedding designer, or buy and DIY it all. Very few people want the same wedding design you do, and if you don’t want to create hundreds of pounds of waste on your wedding day, then let’s talk about all of your decor options.

I recently priced out the order online and it may end up in the trash options vs. alternative looks incorporating real flowers and greenery and reusable high quality silk florals and other items from our inventory, as an alternative, and unless that fake floral look is what you are going for, there are better options for you. I am not a discount florist, nor do I sell cheap designs to the masses, but as a planner/designer/florist, I often work with my planning clients on a budget to design a cohesive look they can afford and helps them not have to DIY much or anything unless they really want to.

I’m grossed out by the trend to buy junk online that ends up in a landfill. I really need to find a way to help more budget couples avoid doing this than just my clients. I don’t know the best way to get that info out there. But this Spring it is on my to do list. Maybe a workshop? Maybe a styled shoot and informative blogs and social posts? I don’t know.

Sheet cakes for your wedding are very much in for 2025. Small cutting cakes and other dessert options have been popular for years now, and for decades hidden in the back sheet cakes were sliced and served to guests, but now sheet cakes are intentionally being created to display and serve. This one a tres leches cake from Dulce Tentacion was the best tasting wedding cake I’ve had in a long time - and I eat a lot more wedding cake than your average person. 😂

If I had to pick one thing I got to create last year that made my year, it was this floral headband for my bride Carmen. Not only did it hold up all day and night there was a LOT OF DANCING!

This baby required wiring, taping and gluing and professional hair pinning to keep the head band and her hair perfect. So perfect!

With mocha mousse being crowned the Pantone color of the year, expect cappuccino, toffee roses, and Koko Lokos to continue to be scarce and expensive.

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t ask for the color you love but it does mean you should trust your florist to get you flowers in your colors that fit your budget. Being informed is a good thing. These flowers are incredibly expensive, per stem at wholesale. You will need to have a realistic budget for your flowers if you want to have these flowers in your wedding.
