Portland Elks Lodge 188 held its annual Hoop Shoot contest for kids 8-13 years old this weekend. A huge thank you to Stevens Square Community Center for use of their gym, and to our Elk members who volunteered to help make the event possible for the kids.

In honor of our Veterans, the Veterans Committee at Lodge 188 hosted its annual Thanksgiving luncheon on Saturday. With over 100 in attendance, 60 of whom are veterans, they were able to enjoy a delicious Turkey dinner with all the trimmings prepared and served by our Elk volunteers. Thank you all for a job well done!

Our annual Basket Raffle Extravaganza is starting to take shape! Put December 7 and 8 on your calendar - two opportunities to purchase raffle tickets for a chance at more than 75 fantastic gift baskets at the Portland Elks Lodge 188, 1945 Congress Street, Portland.

Lunch is available on Saturday, and Santa arrives at Noon. Breakfast will be offered on Sunday. All winners will be announced Sunday afternoon. Our gift baskets make great Christmas presents, too!!

A Warming Tree Challenge for Lodge 188....this year we are collecting gifts for those in our community who need a little extra help to keep warm this winter. A tree is located in Lodge 188 Lounge with tags on what you can purchase, or donate "gently" used items. We are collecting these items up until December 6 and will present all that we collect to Maine Needs on December 13. In the giving spirit of the holidays, we hope you will share your generosity! If you would prefer to make a cash donation and a member of the Activity Committee shop for you, see Margaret Poulin or Karen Emerson. The Don Campbell Band will be at the Portland Elks Lodge 188 (1945 Congress Street, Portland), Saturday, November 16, for a Veteran Celebration! Tickets are available on Eventbrite for $15 or may be purchased at the door the night of the concert for $20. Elks members may purchase them at the Lounge Bar. Doors open at 6 pm, band starts at 7 pm. Gather your friends and join others enjoying a great night of music!
