Not a normal flowery post but today I attempted to climb my first mountain. I learned many things. 1.)altitude sickness is real, my partner got very ill and we had to turn around 2.)Mountains are dangerous but not nearly as scary as the fear I had built up in my head 3.)I’m built for this! We were cruising up this mountain and all I wanted was more. Turns out I really like the climb up but don’t have the patience for the down climb. 😂

This spring snow has me feeling for farmers. The unseasonably cold weather has wreaked havoc on spring blooms and totally thrown off harvest times for cut flowers. Fruit tree farmers are worried that they won’t get a harvest at all this year. Climate change is real and it’s affecting us everyday whether we choose to notice or not.

Even though this year I have been deeply rejecting societies expectations on what romance and love and companionship should be… I think this time can be taken to acknowledge and celebrate the bonds that we have forged so deeply without a romantic relationship. Valentine’s Day isn’t just for the “happy couples” it’s for the lovers who love deeply and purely and non traditionally.

Does anyone else have a difficult time FULLY unplugging? I find myself pretty consistently working on my "days off", but honestly I kind of prefer it this way. First of all, I really like being busy! Productivity is fulfilling to me. Plus I'm really dedicated to my work, and I enjoy making it a success. Something I have learned these past couple of years is that no one is going to do it for you. If you want something you have got to make it happen. So here I am trying to make moves while making pretty things. :)

Valentine's day is just around the corner! And dare I say so is spring! Yesterday I saw some little buds blooming! All the early spring things like camellia and my favorite flowering shrub (well, one of them) Edgeworthia. Aka Chinese paper bush. Native to China, Japan, and Nepal. I just learned yesterday it has been used to make specialty paper in Japan.
The budding flowers are giving me life and filling me with hope and aspirations for next season!

Struggling to get through your to-do list today? I've realized over the last few months that whenever I’m finding it tough to get into the zone I generally just need to take a break! That's right! The best tip I have to increase your productivity is to step away from your work. Sometimes it is MUCH easier said than done, but I've found after a moment of meditation I am able to focus my mind and reach my goals quicker and easier.

Something I learned about myself this year, I work really well under pressure! I really love the time crunch that comes with the setup and installation of wedding designs. This particular event was cutting it a bit close but I made it just by the skin of my teeth and it came out SO beautifully. Installations require a different kind of creativity and abstract problem-solving which makes this type of work thrilling and so very rewarding. Seriously isn't it pretty! 😍

Why is rest and recovering almost impossible for some? This weekend I really tried to give myself some time off but it turns out my brain has a really difficult time resting. My constantly growing to-do list is almost always swirling around up there. In an attempt to remedy this struggle I have begun the practice of meditation. I decided to give it a real try when I learned that brains are physically altered when meditation is consistantly practiced. It actully strengthens and thickens the brains pre-frontal cortex. This is the part of the brain that manages higher order brain function like awareness, concentration, and decision making. It's like a workout for your brain! Plus it feels really good to slow down in the middle of a busy day to just take a moment, just 10-15 minutes, for myself.

I've been scouring Pinterest for wreath inspo the past few days. How amazing is this wreath?! Love the LED lights throughout and the added aromatics of the dried cinnamon and orange slices!
