Honestly... I don't think I've ever posted a flower girl photo and it's not because I don't think they are super cute or anything, there's usually just so many other flower focal points of a wedding day to share. But I literally couldn't help myself with these cuties from Matea & Luke's wedding day and the way they are rocking these flower crowns.

A friend asked me recently what flower is the first sign of Spring and I thought back to being a kid and how when the patches of daffodils that lined our yard finally bloomed I knew warmer days were coming.

Did you know that daffodils come in more colors that yellow and white? A wide variety of peach styles always capture my heart with whirling centers, perfect cups, or ruffled edges like the ones pictured here.

If you are having a spring wedding consider calling in warmer days with the humble daffodil as your primary wedding flower. Pair it with blooming branches for a seasonal and elegantly elevated look. This week I'll be featuring a daffodil wedding table scape and a daffodil centered bridal bouquet to inspire you... and maybe convince you that I should create some flower magic for your spring 2025 wedding!

If you look through my portfolio of work it should be no surprise to you that summer flowers are my favorite. Dahlias, dahlias, and more dahlias, zinnias, roses, cosmos,
tons of weird textures... But I know so so so many florists fawn over spring.

And listen I get it! It brings color back into a grey winter world, there are so many soft forms, and blooming textures unique to the season, so I'm embracing spring this florals this year and finding my favorite ways to interpret them, starting with this ranunculus bridal bouquet. I love the contrast of the ribbon like ranunculus and the stiffer blooming branches. The linear stem, but soft bloom of sweet peas really marries these two forms together perfectly and the drama of long winter light shows off their beauty!

Do you love a colorful bouquet or an all white and neutral one? When it comes to wedding flowers I can never decide which I love more. With a degree in fashion styling and a minor in art I take so much joy in creating unique and artful florals that are just for you.

Interpreting style through an artistic lens has always been one of my greatest life joys. While some kids watched movies with theirs friends, my group was discussing the latest runway shows, digging through closest, and putting on impromptu photo shoots. It was always our play and I always knew it would be part of my career.

Here's one for the brides-people! There's nothing like being surrounded by the love and support of your best friends on your wedding day. Your wedding party really are ROCKstars, from being excited with you when you announce your engagement, supporting any crazy planning whims, or partying hard at your Bach weekend, to literally clearing the aisle for you to have your moment! It's a magical and special memory making time for the entire group. And this group in particular went above and beyond varying their vases around to keep their bouquets fresh all day. You really know how to make a florist heart smile.

In case you missed it this has been a busy week for SlowCult! We moved the studio across the city of Portland and while I'll miss the charm of our old location the new studio will serve you, our clients, so much better! (can you say classes and events?) Not to mention the joy of indoor running water and being 7 minutes from home and 10 more to the floral market for me! Can't wait to share the space as it unfolds!

One thing I've been getting asked over again in consultation calls is "what about the end of the night? Who cleans everything up?" And the answer is always "We'll be there to I handle everything! At the end of the night my team will swoop in like flower night ninjas and clear out anything floral related, you won't have to worry, lift a finger, or be stressed out the following day."

Your wedding day should be easy and you should feel totally free to live in the moment. Nothing makes me more sad on a wedding day than a couple who is worrying about logistical details when they should be taking in every moment of this once in a lifetime day. When it comes to flowers we have your back in every single step of the process!

F**K THE RULES. Yeah I said it. When it comes to design throw the rules right out the door. Of course there are some generally good guidelines to follow that will help your day flow seamlessly (hire an amazing planner!), but when it comes to creating a truly unique wedding aesthetic ditch any preconceived notions, stop looking at Pinterest and Instagram, and decide on something that makes you feel alive, nostalgic, beautiful, peaceful... or whatever FEELS GOOD and is the way you want your wedding day to make you tingle when you look back at your photos. And then go all in! Yesterday I saw a wedding in small warehouse. The theme was old Italian restaurant. They had no flowers, but they did have red and white checkerboard tablecloths, heaping ceramics of baked ziti, fresh baguettes, and candle light everywhere. And it was perfect, and lovely, and nostalgic. My favorite clients, the ones I'm most creatively excited about, are ones that say f**k the rules and want to go all in on whatever feels the most them.
