I look forward to these beauties every year, Hood Strawberries! They are only here for a couple weeks a year.
Since today is National Food Safety Day I'm posting tips on how to clean them:
Rinse in cool water in a collander for 10-20 seconds

Soak in a solution of one part white vinegar to three parts water for 15 minutes.

Dissolve 1 tsp of salt in a cup of warm water, let it cool, and then rinse the strawberries in the solution

This is my father's Salmon Croquet recipe. I loved them when I was a kid. But he'd be irritated I'm serving them with grits because he hated them!l😂 Sorry daddy, they were a big hit, so I'm leaving them on the menu for the next pop up on 4/28. My bro added a poached egg to his order. You can do the same! Bon Appetit!

For my veggie and vegan friendly folks, there are options for you as well. Do you need a mimosa or Bloody Mary while you're listening to the vibe of smooth jazz? We got you! In the month of February, my daughter Sable and I have the opportunity to present another episode of Stones, Bones and Black black-eyed peas cooking demonstrations for black history month at the . Pictured is the second one at the troutdale Library. It was great fun and we really enjoyed the interaction with the audience. We're looking forward to doing more episodes in 2024. The food in the picture is a soul food inspired charcuterie board. There was also a demonstration on how to make a quick pickle. We would love for you to join us sometime!

Good afternoon! I'm sad to announce that Shelly's Kitchen will be closing, effective immediately, as I have lost my lease.
I'd like to thank all of my faithful clients and the new ones. I'll be posting pictures of friends and neighbors that have enjoyed eating food in my kitchen!
Fortunately, Finer Things Events and Catering will still be in operation. I'll use commissary kitchens until I find a new permanent space.
I'm going to miss my kitchen and interacting with customers old and new. I love y'all and appreciate your support of Shelly's Kindness. Hopefully 2024 will be the year you hire Finer Things Events and Catering! Bon Appetit!

I'm not sure what my obsession is with cornish hens but I love them! I was messing around in the kitchen with new recipe ideas and I came up with this deep fried cornish hen with hot honey/butter sauce. Omg it was 🔥🔥! I'm thinking of adding it to the menu next week as a special. Does thid sound like something you would enjoy?
