I cook so much for other people, I often end up neglecting myself. I had a couple days off and decided to cook for ME! I love fresh ingredients, especially ones in season. This dish was AMAZING! This one is going in the recipe book. Pictured:
Crimini Mushrooms with garlic, green onions and pepper bacon
Cranberry Jasmine rice
Brussel sprouts with sweet potatoes and andouille sausage

In the 80's and 90's You couldn't go to a restaurant, bar, hotel, or hole in the wall, without seeing Nachos on the menu. They started out plain, with tortilla chips, ground beef, guacamole, sour cream salsa. Then people started getting creative and adding lamb grilled onions and even seafood! I've noticed in a few places that they are making a come back. I think that Tacos are the new nachos. So in honor of Taco Tuesday I'm doing Nacho Tuesday. This is pretty much the classic version except for instead of ground beef. I use my family's chili recipe and some rice.

I look forward to these beauties every year, Hood Strawberries! They are only here for a couple weeks a year.
Since today is National Food Safety Day I'm posting tips on how to clean them:
Rinse in cool water in a collander for 10-20 seconds

Soak in a solution of one part white vinegar to three parts water for 15 minutes.

Dissolve 1 tsp of salt in a cup of warm water, let it cool, and then rinse the strawberries in the solution
