How do you save on your wedding budget?" The answer isn't simple, because it all comes down to a ton of different factors like where you're getting married, how big or small your guest list is, what your priorities are and what your vision is. Every wedding is different. Every set of nearlyweds is different and their priorities just as unique as they are! So welcome to my new in-depth series: You Asked; I'm Answering! How to Save on Your Wedding Budget.

As a wedding planner, I often encourage my clients to forgo wedding favors, because it's a lot of budget spent in an area that guests don't tend to appreciate. Favors often get left at the venue, where my team packs them up to be sent home with the clients. My rule if you really really really want wedding favors is to make it consumable or make it useful! But two of my clients really knocked it out of the park with usefulness, so instead of waiting to do an end of the year recap, I need to tell you now about my favorite wedding favors from my clients' weddings so far this year.

My favorite wedding favors from my clients' weddings so far this year as a wedding planner

Text reads: I don't even know where to begin with how AMAZING Andy was for our entire wedding planning process. When we met Andy, we discussed our idea to hold our wedding at a brand new location that would require us to build a full venue and services from scratch. Andy was instantly game to take on the challenge and there's no way we could have done it without her. She became an advisor to both us and the location owner, guiding us all through every step of the process. Having Andy on our side allowed us to focus on the wedding details we were most passionate about and enjoy the process instead of stressing on all the details of building a venue. Flashing forward to the wedding day itself - Andy and team were amazing. Everything looked amazing and spot on for our hopes and vision. The entire day was a dream, the schedule was great, our guests all had a ball and we were so, so happy. Andy is truly meant for this work and is the person to work with to make your wedding dreams come true. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Andy (and team!) !!!

As a wedding planner, I'm often asked what my best piece of wedding planning advice is and I always tell them that my best advice isn't about the budget or wedding hacks or about any of the many details; no, it's that NOTHING at a wedding happens by magic! Someone has to plan it. Someone has to execute it. Someone has to clean it up.

It's a common occurrence that I get a new client inquiry in my inbox asking for "just day-of help" because they've got everything planned and just need someone to make the day run smoothly. And so I typically reply (if I'm available on their date) and explain that I don't do Day-Of and what my smallest package entails and leave the choice up to them. Occasionally it leads to a booking, but usually not because I'm not offering what they want (and that's okay honestly!). So WHY don't I offer Day-Of Coordination? And why do I think no one should either?

Why I Don't Offer Day-Of Coordination (and why I think no one should)

I first came across Andy when looking for wedding venue sites in the PNW. I saw a video she did touring Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, Washington. Because of her video we decided to tour the site and fell in love and booked our wedding date. Fast forward a few months and while planning our wedding realized we needed help. We decided to reach out to Andy and we are so glad we did! We started with an introductory call and quickly realized how much help hiring Andy would be. She was helpful in helping us navigate planning a wedding. Especially being a gay couple it is hard to find wedding related info that is geared towards LGBTQIA+ couples. Andy gave tons of great feedback for all of our questions. One thing that helped tremendously was the amazing templates and tip sheets she shared with us to keep everything organized. Another big thing was that all of our vendors were super excited to work with her. Her reputation in the PNW wedding community is well earned! She managed all of the communication with our vendors and made sure everyone was on the same page and ready for the big day. Our wedding day was absolutely everything we could have hoped for and more! It would not have been possible without Andy and her amazing team! If you are debating on whether or not to book a coordinator we cannot recommend Andy enough! Once you do that first introductory meeting you will quickly see how valuable she is! - Aaron R
