Salsa!💃🏽Cameron & Spencer are my only couple (so far) this year dancing salsa and I just can’t understand why. Not only is it a super approachable dance style for beginners but it’s also super fun to be able to take what you’ve learned out dancing together at salsa clubs and events for years to come! These two honestly exceeded every expectation I had for them. I mean look at them😍We started lessons later than I usually like to but they were focused, up for anything, knew what they wanted and made it happen (Spencer with a back injury, no less). They’re dancing to “Estoy Perdido” by Los Tres Ases and they’re getting married this Saturday!! It’s a surprise dance and let me tell you…everyone will be on their feet by the end of this one. Please help me wish them CONGRATULATIONS on their upcoming union!🫶🏼💍 Planner: Vareus Events Venue: The Evergreen
What are the added benefits to taking dance lessons? (besides having a killer dance to show off at your wedding and stunning pictures after…)🌟It’s like a date night with your partner. Time for you two to relax and have fun together during what can be a sometimes stressful season of wedding planning.🌟You build trust in one another through practicing tricks like dips and lifts.🌟Dancing is a complete brain/body workout. In addition to gained muscle tone and strength dance can improve your mood, reduce depression and anxiety and help protect your memory as you age. 💪🏽🌟You learn a new skill that can add happiness to your life and partnership for many years to come! So what are you waiting for? Oh, you think you can’t dance? Two left feet? I’m here to prove you wrong on that. Dance is for EVERYONE - every age, size, shape and color. And I’m ready to help you gain the confidence you need to enjoy it✨
About 70% of my couples choose to do a slow dance (waltz, foxy), another 20% end up doing the salsa, a 2 step or some other basic partner step. Then there’s that 10%…and when they call me and I hear their inspiration for their wedding dance my eyes get all big and my heart flutters and I do a happy dance myself. Not because I don’t love the other styles - I do. But the teacher inside me and choreographer want different things sometimes and the choreographer gets all giddy at the mention of something unique that’s gonna make my brain work overtime to be extra creative. And that’s where Drew & Ashley come in. They came to me wanting to do a hip hop inspired dance to “I2I” from “A Goofy Movie” and they specifically wanted to learn the chorus from the dance in that movie. I laughed to myself when I watched it cause it was an intermediate/advanced dance and I thought there was no way they could tackle it, but they said they were up for the challenge. And guess what? They were. These two have blown my mind with what they’ve taken on and learned with no previous dance experience. Just goes to show you can do whatever you put your mind to. They get married May 4th at Irving Street Studios and they are ready to knock the socks off their guests in the most adorable way possible. So excited for them!

Oh hey guys👋How’s it goin’? Long time no post, yet again😂🙈Wrapping up lessons and saying goodbye to several April wedding couples before I welcome some new ones and the busiest time of the year commences and I just had to take a moment to showcase Jake & Callie. These two have mastered some really impressive tricks, as you can see. Their dance is a surprise so I can’t say much about it except that I’m completely stoked on the concept. They’ve worked hard for months and we’ve shared some good laughs. It’s always super bittersweet to say goodbye when it’s go time. I can only imagine that it’s a similar feeling to sending kids off the college. Like…I’m proud of you and I hope you go and do big things and are happy but…come back and visit, ok?🫶🏼Also, sometimes people ask me why I don’t post videos of myself dancing😂🙈One, I’d need a partner, but more importantly two: alllllll those videos you see out there of wedding dance instructors showing you their sweet moves are inspiring and polished no doubt, but those are professional dancers! Of course they’re gonna look good. What can YOU look like if you take lessons with me? The couples on my feed, like Jake & Callie, are great examples of the real possibilities✨
Day 6, and what should be the final day, of not leaving the house🥶🧊Can somebody please send some of this tropical goodness and warmth our way? Can you handle the beauty of it all?! Her dress? His green suit? I’m drooling over the details…I start my first lessons of the year tomorrow and I cannot wait. Someone asked me a couple weeks ago if I was enjoying my break from lessons and in all honesty, no😂Teaching dance is my passion. This “job” is a huge source of joy in my life and I miss it so much when I’m not doing it. I’m so excited to see my return couples tomorrow and meet some new ones over the weekend. I love these shots of Andy & Karina’s first dance…especially the celebration dance at the end which I’m pretty sure knowing their personalities was initiated by Andy and then hesitantly reciprocated by Karina. Karina really tried to convince me before our first lesson that she was a terrible dancer with two left feet, but I wouldn’t hear any of it. I asked her if she’d ever taken dance lessons before? She said no. Who’s good at something they’ve never done before? Not very many people. But after a few lessons these two were looking polished and professional. They danced their routine flawlessly with such style and emotion. And don’t even get me started on Karina’s point😍They also chose a tear jerker song I loved choreographing to, “Crash Into Me” by Dave Matthews Band. These days they’re galavanting all over the world making me super jealous with their epic excursions and adventures. It’s so fun watching my couples relationships and lives change and grow after they say “I do”.Photographer: @tilldeathdoweadventure Venue: @knollcrestgardensFirst dance: @pnwweddingdance Hair: @desireedoesbeautyMU: @event_cosmeticsDress alterations: @woobie_the_fibrarianFlowers: Evelyn Frances

2021 wasn’t without it’s challenges, but that didn’t mean we couldn’t get creative in order to have some fun too😉🤠Love reliving Kaya & Geoff’s reception where they kindly invited us to lead their guests in line dancing. We got the dance floor rockin’ and vibed off this wedding long after it was over.

Let’s turn up the heat on this #humpday 😏🔥When Hayden first contacted me about choreographing a seductive garter dance to surprise his wife at their wedding this October, I said, without hesitation, “aw hell yeah, let’s do it!” With no previous dance experience Hayden tackled one of the biggest challenges of all: exuding sexiness and confidence while being new to a craft, not to mention performing it in front of all his closest family & friends. We discussed where to draw the line and how “dirty” to get during practice and Hayden was ready to let loose and step way out of his comfort zone. He worked hard and had a stellar best man as his coach, even standing in to be his “bride” during our final practice to make it all the more real. It takes some major huevos to pull off a feat like this and Hayden did not disappoint one bit. Bravo sir👏🏼👏🏼Wishing you & Shawntel the most amazing, happiest forever after! #garterbelt #happywifehappylife #campwilkerson #pdxflashmob
“I must say our dance was definitely the highlight of our wedding. Everyone can’t stop talking about it and I can’t stop watching it. Thank you again.”

When you stop thinking about the moves and start dancing with your heart, magic happens🥰✨And that’s exactly what happened here. K & C took every step they learned and personalized it, had fun with it and FELT it…and the outcome was electric. Congratulations you two! Wishing you both the most fabulous forever after!🥳🥂💍@haikugardens @haleiwajoes #weddingwednesday #firstdance #pdxflashmob

Asad & Erica’s Cherry Bomb Dip
How ‘bout this 🍒Cherry Bomb dip from Asad & Erica’s final practice?😍We can’t get over it🔥Over the days, months and in this case years that we get to know our couples we become really close. It’s so hard to say goodbye! But so happy that these two finally get to celebrate their union with all their loved ones in Boston next weekend🥰💍They’re gonna SLAY this dance! #bollywood #celebratelove #pdxflashmob
Keawe & Cicely’s Old School Section
These video clips are from Keawe & Cicely’s final practice with us😭We’ve done virtual lessons with them for months but decided to have our last session in person so we could really dig in and work on performance. Their five minute long, four song mix is no joke - but they’ve put in the time & effort to make it look SO sharp!😍A little salsa, some R&B grooves and then this sweet throwback number by Bobby Brown. I’ve never before seen a couple nail old school hip hop moves so quickly! These two were set to wed in 2020 but we all know how that went🤷🏻♀️They’re now only a few weeks away from their long awaited big day in Kaneohe, Hawaii on September 11th. So excited for these two to finally party down and celebrate their love with all their family & friends! This surprise dance is going to turn heads, no doubt😍 #firstdance #welovesurprises #pdxflashmob

Happy Friday!🌟🥳
Recognize these two?🥰We’ve been lucky enough to work with several former clients this summer and Asad & Erica are up next!😊We had the honor of helping Asad with his proposal to Erica in 2019 (scroll through our feed to find it) and now it’s THEIR turn to dance as we have the pleasure of choreographing their #firstdance for their reception in September. They’re dancing to the same song Asad proposed with (cue the water works😭😭) and then jumping into an upbeat Bollywood number, clad in traditional wear. It’s going to be nothing short of spectacular🤩 Such a very busy summer for us packed with many amazing experiences but it is truly special and the biggest compliment to get to work with and see past clients again!
Also, this dip was from their first practice yesterday. Can you believe it? Swoon😍
