✨ First Saturday at Oregon Contemporary kicks off with a special screening of Sondra Perry’s powerful video work, Black Girl as a Landscape, performed by Dionne Lee, running from October 4, 2024, to December 15, 2024. Sondra Perry’s videos and performances foreground the tools of digital production as a way to critically reflect on new technologies of representation and to remobilize their potential. At once abstract and representational, Black Girl as a Landscape articulates Perry’s interest in the possibility of abstraction as a way of creating dimensionality that connects individual bodies to larger visual and environmental ecologies.

Closing soon! “Orbit,” a curatorial project by WAVE Contemporary and Well Well Projects, in partnership with Oregon Contemporary, ends on October 6.

WAVE Contemporary and Well Well Projects bring you Orbit, a curatorial project highlighting film, animations, and moving images organized by Marcelo Fontana and Chris Ticas, and curated by Jamie Isenstein, Gian Spina, and Tilsa Otta. Presented in partnership with Oregon Contemporary.

Dedicated to exploring the politics of images in contemporary life, our collective seeks to create community by presenting a broad mix of international and local artists. Our goal is to create a platform for discussion and connection through a series of small-scale screenings.

In the past three decades, images and videos have monopolized the public sphere as our main communication tool. This massive digital production has transformed contemporary images, displacing, decontextualizing, and diminishing their connection to reality, while enhancing their fluidity and impact. Previously mirrors of reality, images now serve purposes such as optics, storytelling, marketing, and surveillance.

As images become more potent, we have become increasingly obsessed with them, consuming them constantly. This fixation affects our ability to perceive our surroundings in a time when images are the primary way we understand and perceive the world.

In this new iteration of Orbit, we invite artists and curators to explore images as political agents in contemporary life. As a collective, we are increasingly concerned about how individuals and movements weaponize images to shift public perspectives and how algorithms prioritize extreme subjects. Orbit proposes a space where the porosity of the media could be rethought in terms of reterritorialization. Through this act, we hope to re-orient ourselves and our images with reality, redefining the operative power of images.

Offset lithograph on paper, 15.875 x 13.5 inches.
Priced at $2,000.

Visit the link in our bio for more information.

Today is the last day to support this initiative! We’re thrilled to be part of the ‘Philanthropy Factory’ by the Warhol Foundation, which provides a unique opportunity to purchase rare Warhol works directly through eBay for Charity. All proceeds benefit Oregon Contemporary and other Warhol Foundation grantees. Don’t miss out!

This lithographic gallery announcement created by Andy Warhol in 1956 comes directly from the artist’s estate. On Valentine’s Day in 1956, Warhol opened an exhibition at Bodley Gallery titled, “Studies for a Boy Book.” This original invitation to the 1956 exhibition illustrates how central Warhol’s open expression of his q***r identity was to his career. The lithograph is featured in the book, Andy Warhol. Love, S*x, and Desire, published by TASCHEN. This is a unique opportunity to purchase a lithograph from Warhol’s personal collection.

Anne Greenwood’s work is inspired by ecological networks, shared landscapes, and the universality of textiles in daily life, spanning multiple mediums including photography, writing, and installation. Repost from

💥 Epistemics for Artists debuts on Saturday ‼️ Please join me at 5pm on June 15 for a rollicking romp through a network of facts, figures, memes, and clichés about the arts (with a brief look at key theories from psychology, philosophy, and linguistics along the way) to talk about why artists are epistemically adrift—unmoored and alienated from the fruits of their labors.

And bring the non-artists in your life, because after this lecture-performance, I promise you they will _get it_. Epistemics for Artists is part of the 2024 Artists’ Biennial, curated by and 💪

Saturday, June 15 at 5pm (doors at 4:30)
Portland Institute for Contemporary Art
