Let’s talk black and white photos for a minute shall we? I know we live in a day and age of color and with photography specifically there are so many different styles and looks…but to me black and whites are simply timeless…no matter if you want a more matte black and white like this which excludes elegance or a more punchy dramatic contrast black and white that says drama…I promise you, in 5, 10 years those black and whites will be among your favorites!

One of my favorite ceremony moments is when a couple stops in the middle or at the top of the aisle for another celebratory moment like this one. There’s so many things you can do… a dip like this photo here, a simple kiss, a hug, cheer with your guests and throw your arms into the air…just celebrate that ahhhhh moment. I promise you the photos won’t disappoint!

Let’s talk Candids…Candid photos are important because they capture genuine, unscripted moments that reflect the true essence and emotions of a person or event. Don’t get me wrong you need some of the posed stuff and photos looking at the camera as well, those are great for thank yous…but even our “posed” portraits we try to give direction and prompts that create laughs and moments that are more candid and real. Candids provide a more authentic and heartfelt representation compared to traditional posed photos, making them invaluable for preserving memories and storytelling.

Alright let’s talk first dance for a moment… one of my favorite things to capture in a wedding day…it’s an intimate moment and maybe you don’t like a lot of attention. I get it, BUT don’t bury your heads into one another and never look up. It makes it hard for your photographer to capture emotions. Even if you make a point to lift your heads for a few moments…gaze into one another’s eyes, talk to each other, just be present in the moment. I promise you some great stuff will come out of it. ✌🏼

When my clients ask if there’s something they can do for the best “kiss” photos, of course yes asking the officiant to step aside is awesome…but honestly? Walk down the aisle together a bit stop and kiss. It has an infectious energy, some of your guests in the background and presents more WOW factor. The more you know 😂

Hot take…forget a private last dance. Opt for a private first dance instead before the reception…later that night have the DJ call everyone out to the dancefloor with you at the front and take a group photo and another kissing with everyone around you cheering and celebrating YOU and your love. It’s more memorable and you get better photos out of it…also your DJ will love this idea as a way to draw people out to start a dance set..win win 🤙🏼

Talk about an exit!!! Chris surprised Heather the day of by leaving their wedding on a boat, we used the ruse that we needed a few more photos and off to the dock we went. This is going to be an amazing way to end their video 🤙🏼
