Today is Kids Day at the Poulsbo Farmers Market and the release of our new Kalamansi Juice! Kalamansi is a Filipino citrus fruit, considered to be the Filipino lemon, because of its versatility. This drink is our version of the lemonade. Come stop by and try it out!

The start of a new market season is tomorrow! And while we won't be there for opening day this year, many great farmers & vendors will be ready to see everyone at 10am!

Our first market will be next week weekend, April 6th. We'll be starting this year with our basic menu only. We don't expect to bring specials and bakery items back until May.

We will be at the Poulsbo Market Nov 18th. We will have our stir fry ramen, pancit, along with veg lumpia, pork Lumpia, and crab lumpia.

Hi Everyone! Sorry to say again we won't be at the market this weekend of Nov 11th. We are trying to attend at least one more market before the 2023 season ends. Strong winds make it difficult to operate with what we do and the weather in general has delayed us on other projects that we are trying to catch up on our farm.

Ube, the purple yam, is part of our Filipino/Filipino American life. It has been part of our culture for hundreds of years. Ube halaya (or Ube Jam) has been a staple food since before the Spanish colonization. When the Spanish arrived and introduced their baked goods to us, like Ensaymada (en-say- ma-da) a sweet dough pastry topped with butter and sugar, and Pandesal (pahn-deh-sahl) Filipinos found our way to make it our own by adding ube halaya in them! That is why modern Filipino American chefs and bakers introduce our own twists of American food with ube. Like Chef Chris’s Ube Cinnamon Rolls!

The United States introduced canned goods and many other items like ketchup, candy bars, and many others. Sheryl’s grandmother used to tell her stories of American soldiers that would come by their town, post-Japanese occupation, and they would hand kids candy bars that were in their rations.

Did you know that the history of SPAM in the Philippines is a direct response to U.S. Colonization? Spam was first introduced to the Philippines, Guam, Hawai’i, and Okinawa during World War II, as the canned meat was a regular part of American soldiers’ diets.

A few days late, but did you know it’s Filipino American History Month? As Filipinos Chef Chris and Sheryl both have been taught, from an early age, about cooking and preparing traditional foods. Food is one of the ways we are taught of our history as Filipino Americans. We learned about how our foods are influenced by different points in our history from around 3400 BC when a migration of Indo-Malayans, Chinese, and Vietnamese arrived, to the American influence post Philippine Revolution. Join us this month as we celebrate our history through food and fellow Filipino Americans who paved the way for us in the culinary world.
