A couple of our committee members ventured over to River Bend Festivals this past weekend for their 7th annual event. We were SO IMPRESSED with their event as a whole, but also the number of volunteers and community organizations that came together to make it happen! Despite the unfavorable weather, the event was absolutely wonderful and the company even better! The River Bend Festival is definitely a different experience than our event and worth the 1 hour trip over the border to do both! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Highlights from The Great TFG Balloon Chase

This past weekend was one for the books! The Great TFG Balloon Chase kicked off with a beautiful early morning launch, filling the sky with vibrant hot air balloons. Runners hit the ground at 6:30 AM, pacing themselves to the rhythm of our custom Spotify playlist.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to participate, watch, and cheer. We were thrilled to partner with Aroostook Mûsterds and the Crown of Maine Balloon Fest . The energy was incredible, and we couldn’t have asked for a better turnout! From the stunning views to the perfect running weather, it was an unforgettable experience for all. We can’t wait to see you next year!

Each year, our Pilots get to place their vote for our Pilot of the Year award. While the award was originally given out as a good natured ribbing, it has since transformed into a much more honorable accolade. Pilots can be nominated for any reason, which means we typically get a wide variety of rationales. This year, the reasons may have varied, but there was one nominee in particular that was the clear choice.

We'd like to congratulate Seth Bailey of Nova Scotia for being selected as our 2024 Pilot of the Year. Seth has been an incredible asset to our festival for many years and and even better friend to our committee. The committee doesn't get a vote in who is named, but we think Seth is pretty amazing and we are thrilled to see that his fellow pilots agreed with our assessment!

From partnering with us to honor a long time festival pilot who passed away this year during our opening ceremony, to agreeing to host tethered rides, participating in our community outreach, and serving as our Balloon Meister and having making the exceptional call to close the field Saturday (this was a very difficult call because the predictions weren't clear cut, but if you were on the ground when the rain hit...you're extra glad he didn't clear us to fly!) Seth consistently steps up to the plate to make our festival as fun, safe, and successful as we can be.

Congratulations Seth on this well-deserved honor. Looks like your stuck with us for another year! :)
