Princeton University Concerts

Princeton University Concerts Experience the world's most celebrated musicians—among friends. Follow us to stay in the loop on our many events!

Our upcoming 124th season brims with nonstop surprises through programming spanning everything from 17th-century “pub music” performed on period instruments with beer accompaniment (Barokksolistene) to a Galician bagpipe virtuoso (Cristina Pato, of the Silk Road Ensemble) exploring Latino music. The programs will both welcome back veterans of PUC -- including the Brentano String Quartet with speci

al guest pianist Jonathan Biss; the Tenebrae Choir; the Artemis String Quartet; the Danish String Quartet, among others -- and will invite new names both of rising stars, such as 24-year-old pianist Benjamin Grosvenor, and some of the most legendary figures in the field, such as pianist Sir András Schiff. A special event, "Shostakovich and The Black Monk,” a musical-theatre piece co-commisioned by PUC featuring the Emerson String Quartet and seven actors, will showcase our commitment to leading the charge in innovative concert presentation through multimedia experiments, flexible concert formats, and unorthodox collaborations.

Due to a wrist injury related to a recent fall, Jansen has withdrawn from her scheduled recital on Wed, December 11 with pianist Denis Kozhukhin. We are grateful to violinist James Ehnes and pianist Orion Weiss who have graciously stepped in on two days' notice to bring us Beethoven’s first, “Spring,” and “Kreutzer” sonatas. View the full announcement in the link in bio. We wish Janine Jansen a speedy recovery and are working to reschedule this program for a future season.

Yesterday, our Outreach Manager Dasha Koltunyuk and Department of Music at Princeton University Professor and Director of the Music Cognition Lab Elizabeth "Lisa" Margulis made a collaborative presentation at an Old Guard Club meeting entitled "Music and Healing in Science and Practice."

Dasha spoke about the origins of our series and music's meaning and role in her life, and Lisa spoke about some of her lab's findings about music's neurological effects.

Thank you to the Old Guard Club and to Professor Margulis for helping us make with inspiring and informative presentation possible!

Our turn to give you a round of applause!

Thank you for your support of our work all year round, and thank you for helping us exceed our goal yesterday!

Our goal was to raise $2,600 — $20 for each year of our 130-year existence. We raised $3,535, plus an additional $2,000 thanks to a generous donation-matching pledge from our Committee member Reba Orszag. That brings the total Giving Tuesday tally to $5,353!

THANK YOU!

As with any non-profit presenting organization, ticket sales only cover a small fraction of our production expenses. We are committed to "securing for Princeton audiences better music than they could otherwise afford," as decreed by Philena Fobes Fine in our original charter, by offering the lowest ticket prices in the region.

You can make a year-end, tax-deductible donation to PUC by visiting puc.princeton.edu/support or the link in our bio or by calling us at 609-258-2800.
