💛🌟🌝🌼🔆

one final ode to this SUNSHINE bouquet! - on the topic of sunshine, while we move into the summer months i have to tell you that the heat is a florists personal enemy! as much as we love the sun ourselves, extreme heat and sun exposure is the perfect poison for wedding flowers, no matter how hard we try!!

so here’s my top three tips to current and future brides getting married in the heat of summer:

1. put that bouquet in water! please! Bring the vase with you to keep nearby (relatively) so after the photos, ceremony, or reception when you aren’t immediately holding it, you can have it beautifully displayed in a vase recharging & rehydrating! that way the flowers will look great all night long!

2. when choosing a venue or ceremony location, please consider the time of day and shade options! having your guests in a shaded outdoor ceremony is so pleasant and you won’t be fighting the sun! Or having a nearby tent/indoor venue where vendors can set up to make sure everything is not sitting in the sun for 6 hours is a considerate touch! (thank you to the brides who have thought of that 🥹🫶)

3. lastly, having accurate expectations for designed flowers sitting in the sun for a full ceremony and reception! Sometimes the climate gets the best of the flowers and their fragile petals start melting 🫠 no matter how many preventative measures we take! and i promise, we will take all of them!!

I love summer weddings and I’m so excited for this part of the season💛I just wanted to share a florist perspective on some details you may not have thought about if you were planning for your summer 2025 wedding!

the utah state capital has my whole heart!!! watching over the city i grew up in, it’s impressive size is deceptive from the outside, and unbelievable from the inside. every time i visit i gasp as i enter the rotunda, in awe of it’s grandiose ceilings and paintings full of history. i feel so lucky to work in beautiful spaces such as this, and even luckier to work with couples choosing this space to celebrate their love!! i can’t wait to be back here this weekend.

a small tribute to my sweet mother (before the chaos of this weekend starts). she is the reason I fell in love with flowers! growing up, she taught me how therapeutic “talking to her garden” is and how getting your hands in dirt is healing to the soul. when I visit home, I often pull up to see her working tirelessly in her garden showing love and care to those blooms!

This business wouldn’t exist without her emotional and physical support, she is involved in every event and wedding that we do! either hands on prepping and striking, or as my relief phone call when the night is done. I feel extremely blessed to have her example of my life 🌷 love you mom. happy mothers day weekend!!

teaching has always been a passion of mine - I have spent years of my life studying the principles of art, understanding how people think about design, and most importantly how to articulate what I have learned to someone in a way that makes the most sense to them. because we all learn differently! and i’m excited to start sharing that with you!

I love working with other florists and sharing what I have learned through working in all areas of the wedding/floral industry.

you know when you’re a kid running around barefoot in your mom’s backyard and you mix grass, dirt, and leaves together to make a magic potion? and it’s the creative thrill of a lifetime? i made a career out of that.

in all seriousness i’m SO grateful to do something i love so much. Not only does this job connect me to beautiful strangers & inspiring women who passionately serve in the wedding industry, but it connects me to myself. i feel the most me with flowers in my hand creating beauty for others. (or designing barefoot on a summer evening - as pictured haha)

Floristry is an art –
florists consider things like texture, depth, color, intensity, shapes, lines, and flow when designing a bouquet. but there’s so much more than that!

Not only do they think about the flowers, but they consider composition of the story as a whole. Things like the dress, the venue, the lighting, and the brides personality, all contribute to the aesthetic and final composition.

do you want designs that are eye catching? something subtle? something natural? or something unique and modern?

have you thought about the composition of your florals for your wedding? ask your florist!! i have a feeling they would LOVE to talk to you all about it :)
