With an acclaimed medalist program providing regular adjudication by national and international judge and as an accredited dance major, the ballroom emphasis allows students to receive beginning through advanced training in American and International styles of Standard Ballroom and Latin American Dance. With more than 4,000 students enrolling in ballroom dance classes each year, this university pr

ogram is the largest of its kind. Students have several on-campus opportunities for performance, including the BYU and United States DanceSport Championships and the annual Ballroom in Concert. The BYU Ballroom Dance Company tours nationally and internationally and has traveled throughout Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, the South Pacific, Australia, and to the Far East, entertaining audiences of all ages. The company is the undefeated U.S. Formation Champion and has won the prestigious British Formation Championships numerous times. All courses offered in the Ballroom program are open to dance majors and non-dance majors. A ballroom minor is also available (16 credits).

Another year of BYU’s World of Dance has come and gone! Thank you to everyone who came and supported BYU Ballroom through this week. We love all of you!🫶
It is a gift to be part of such a beautiful dance department. We are in awe of the excellence we are surrounded by. Sharing the stage with our fellow performing arts companies this week has been an absolute pleasure and we can’t wait to it all again next year!🫵🌟🕺

Embassy Ball 2024✨♥️

We are honored to have the opportunity to attend this prestigious competition and defend our titles as the U.S. National Amateur Latin and Ballroom Formation Champions🏆
Every year, this competition is a highly anticipated event for the team. It is wonderful to compete together so early in the season. We are grateful to the for allowing us to showcase our medleys!💪

We were able to perform in the BYU Christmas devotional this morning! The spirit was so strong in the Marriott center, and we loved getting to bring in the holiday season!

The BYU Ballroom Dance Company is so very saddened at the passing of our dear friend Marrianne Porter. She was the lead seamstress/dress maker/ designer and dear dear friend. For 30 plus years she has been a part of our team and has literally made hundereds and hundereds of gowns for our dancers which have been seen around the world (not to mention the countless dresses for individual competitors). Her patience and kindness were unparalleled. Her exquisite workmanship elevated the presentation of dance to a world class level. We are filled with gratitude for our relationship with Marianne and send our most warm condolences to her amazing husband Richard who was willing to share her with us.

So much love for all of the cultural dancing we’ve been able to participate in. South Africa has shown us the absolute beauty in tradition and we’ve loved these experiences. Our students will never forget these amazing memories!!!
