Karyne is a mother, poet, and movement artist with over 30 years experience in the entertainment industry. With an eye for interpretation, presentation, and demonstration, Karyne offers her poetic expertise to every project she embodies. Currently, Karyne is teaching her hula program to the upcountry commu
nity of Maui, Hi. She has also created a 5Rythyms style dance program for kids called FreeStyle Playground. As a Choreographer:
“Make movement matter” has always been her philosophy when creating dance art for her clients. “I try to find the soul of any song that I am working with, then I manifest the movement that reflects it.” By combining 13 years of Polynesian dance training with her unique form of urban dance, she has created a new style of movement called Urban Pacific Dance. In mixing these two cultures, Karyne has derived a sweet and exotic blend of movement that is also funky and soulful. As a Dancer:
Karyne has performed extensively throughout Las Vegas, Reno, and Lake Tahoe; she was a featured dancer in the motion picture DICK TRACY w/ Madonna; a tango dancer in the movie MY BLUE HEAVEN w/ Steve Martin; toured Japan 4 times; and was a featured Go Go dancer for many prominent night clubs throughout LA & OC such as Metropolis, The Palace, The Roxy, The Mayan, and Coolsville. As a Teacher:
Karyne works to inspire her students to shine their own personal inner light, and to reach their soul’s potential through dance. Her curriculum is a product of being a Spirit led artist, daily practice, and decades of gathering her dance wisdom through the paths that have made up her life. Karyne’s classes are thought provoking and exciting, and range from children’s classes to professional level adults, beginner through advanced, and is available for solo performance, weekly instruction, dance camps, seminars, workshops, master class, and special choreography, and private instruction.
