This photo is from October 1980 the early years of Coach Bowden at FSU and the start of his Dynasty. There was no Collegetown. The west Tennessee St was the strip. Wonderful music venues like Brew & Cue II, Bullwinkles, Tommy’s etc.. The photo shows 1000’s of fans celebrating the win against the first major football team win, Nebraska ranked 3rd and FSU ranked 16. FSU played Nebraska at home and the final score FSU 18 Nebraska 14. The next game was against Pittsburgh and the Quarterback was Dan Marino. Pittsburgh was ranked 4th in the country and FSU was ranked 11th. FSU played Pittsburgh at home with a final score of FSU 36 Pitt 22. My Dad and I owned the Brew & Cues along with my childhood friend Donald Allen. You can see Brew & Cue sign right below the D-103 billboard. Bullwinkles right next door. Ken’s Tavern, Brew & cue, Bullwinkles we’re all popular venues to watch FSU away games. Those were such fun times!
