Today, we tearfully lost our patriarch of the Speckhart family, our favorite farmer, friendly greeter, and storyteller, our Great-Grandpa Richard. But Heaven rejoiced upon you entering His kingdom. Thank you for all the lessons and love. Very much beloved and always remembered, Richard Speckhart.

If you’re looking to serve a dessert featuring fruit to pear with wine, frozen berries are available year-round, so enjoy this classic blackberry cobbler any time! It will go great with a bottle of our 7th Generation, a sweet American red table wine. The reduced sugar recipe below helps make this wine and dessert pairing sing!

FOR THE DOUGH

2 cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup corn flour
2 Tbsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
½ cup sugar
½ orange, zested
8 ounces cold butter, cut into small cubes
1 ¼ cup heavy cream
Sugar for sprinkling

FOR THE FILLING

4 cups blackberries, fresh
½ cup sugar
4 Tbsp all-purpose flour
½ tsp cinnamon, ground
½ lemon, juiced

Preheat the oven to 350°.

Sift together your dried ingredients, including the orange zest. Add cold butter and mis it until it's a sandy texture. Mix your cream in, reserving 2 tablespoons for brushing the dough pieces. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into a shape you would like, but keep the pieces to 1" or 2" in diameter. Brush your shapes with the reserved cream and sprinkle them with sugar.

Combine all filling ingredients in a bowl until well mixed. Distribute the filling mixture into ramekins or individual oven-safe dishes, then arrange the dough shapes on top. Bake until the filling is bubbling, and the tops are delicately browned, usually around 20-25 minutes. Enjoy it warm or let it cool before serving. Serve with our 7th Generation wine for an elevated experience!

Thank you to each and every guest of Autumn 🍂 Fest! You all came out for a good time. We shared drinks, snacks and shopped (a lot)!

Special thanks to Platt Daddy BBQ for the amazing brisket mac & cheese. Our kiddos loved the walking tacos! And 📢 cheers to ALL the amazing small businesses that joined us this year! It was bigger than ever. We had so much fun!

Many thanks to the volunteers, staff and our family that rallied at closing, with the rain right before the thunderstorm! 😮‍💨We did it!
