Sharing some Christmas commissions.

This is a sweet church that I had the honor to illustrate. It is a building that has seen the passage of time, dreams come true, and marriages begin. Like the homes I have had the joy to illustrate, this church has stories to tell, and it was an honor to capture it.

For those who love history with a story. We have it!

Welcome to our family, we purchased the church at an auction, restored the church many years later to give it new life, to maintain the history in our community and to share its' beauty with as many as possible.

The township owned the church and decided to sell it through an auction open to the community, and Fred Avra won the bid.

Fred and Bill grew up in the curves of Algansee, they would be next door at Safford’s General Store visiting Roy & Gwen Dove, they mowed the church yard and played basketball inside the church along with many others in the community. To say there was some sentimental attachment, is an understatement.

As a family we came together and spent many hours restoring the church as much as we could during the summer of 2016, and picked back up in the summer of 2017 for yet another family wedding. The days were long and the nights were short, meals were skipped, days blurred together, but it has been one of the most humbling experiences watching God’s grace bless this building and helping make our dreams a beautiful reality.

How we got our name?

We started with a list of over 40 names, and it took many months to come up with which one fit us best. We originally targeted names around the word “grace” because God showed us so much grace during the restoration. We later decided to not let grace be the main part of the name but more so our mission statement. Fred wanted a name that gave a picture in your mind as you said it, and he figured no other name fit the church better than the Old Church on the Curve.

We pray this building brings you as much blessings and joys as it has for us.
