Today is our anniversary and the beginning of our majority year. Let me explain…

When Cody and I were on our honeymoon, we rode in a taxi with a couple from Europe. We chatted a little and they said that they were on a trip for their “majority.” They explained that they were celebrating having spent more years together in life than they had apart. Not necessarily a wedding anniversary, but an important relationship milestone nonetheless.

Our “majority” seemed an eternity away in 2010, but here we are on our 14th anniversary entering our “majority year”. Our first official date was on NYE our senior year of high school at 17 and 18. We got married on January 2nd three years later at 20 and 21. Today marks 14 years of marriage and roughly 17 years together.

The concept of celebrating our “majority” was moving way back then, but seems even more momentous now. Almost five babies, two businesses, several houses, many adventures, and even more challenges later and it definitely feels fitting to set aside a year to celebrate being more together in life than apart.
