I think about color all the time. Seriously all the time. I was the kid who used to sit on the floor at the art supply shop in University Mall in Chapel Hill (Hungate’s! Who remembers it?) counting the colors of the pens and markers in those huge multi-packs, and waiting until my Village Advocate paper route money accumulated enough to buy them. And paint pens! All those options made my head spin and my heart sing.

And they still do. But now it’s flowers. Collecting seeds and corms and bulbs and tubers and growing and tending and harvesting specific shades of specific colors and textures for specific designs takes up more of my bandwidth than I’d like to admit. And sometimes it takes the whole flower village to get me there. Sweetpeas from and roses and snaps from and mint and huckleberry and so many other goodies from rounded out our farm’s orlaya and nigella and ranunculus and astilbe and passionflower vine and peony and boom I had all I needed for this limoncello-themed photo shoot yesterday. It was a love affair with yellow and white.

Huge thanks to for asking me to design the florals. The photos from and video from are going to be off the charts and oh what a team of assembled vendors yesterday— all on board to keep it local and promote sustainable wedding practices. I love my crazy colorful sprint of a job!
