Oak City Soul was started with the intention of being a DJ social club of sorts with a focus on the shared love of vinyl. Oak City Soul was created to be a collaborative from the jump. At the time of its inception I didn’t know of too many folks who spun vinyl in the area. I guess I had the “if you build it they will come” mentality and I believe it’s worked! It’s taken some time but I’ve been fortunate to find other like-minded folks who I’ve worked with in different capacities over the last few years with a real appreciation for vinyl.

This Thursday!!! I’d like to invite you to to meet some of the crew (if you don’t know them already) for a selector showcase. I’d like to welcome .citrus .forno to the OCS fam.
I’m stoked to continue to promote, provide, & constantly dig for deeper vibes in the city of Raleigh with y’all.

Coming down to help resident DJ Rhymic () is the one and only DJ Ryah!
Ryah has been a NC resident for going on 20 years. Originally hailing from NY, his musical inspiration has always come from DJs who could weave between genres effortlessly, and many times throughout a night… DJ Spinna, Kenny Dope, Rich Medina, and the like. Ryah also takes a lot of musical turns, but leans most heavily into Soul, Jamaican Roots, Disco/Boogie, House, Jazz, original samples, and Brazilian tunes. His selections are a soulful and creative exploration of celebration through music.

Here’s a fun party mix to kick off your 4th of July weekend celebration. It’s an all-vinyl set that features some classic House, Disco, Miami Bass, Cumbia & Dancehall. It’s a bit more randy than normal when it drops into some 2 Live Crew, and Cardi B, etc. definitely not to be played around anyone who might take offense to real raw and provocative lyrics. Not the normal stuff I’d typically play in that space but it was a Party!!
