20 years of brief meets here and there…

They first met in 2004 through a mutual friend, at a going away party before their deployment.

Fast forward three years, where they saw each other at another going away party.

Two years later, Doug was with said mutual friend who was helping him move across the country — and they met Kate out for a drink (where she was currently living). They had a definite connection, but life had other plans. Kate stayed in NC while Doug moved to CA. Kate moved to London a few years later, and then to San Francisco.

In May 2023, that same mutual friend got married, and they reconnected (15 years later). Their connection was still very much alive and well, and “the most magical, rom-com-movie-like weekend falling in love during their wedding.”

They lived on opposite sides of the country but stayed in touch and planned visits as often as possible. By the end of
2023 there was talk of marriage, babies, and a life together.

In February 2024, Doug pulled off a surprise magical proposal at the summit of Tahquitz Peak after a 4.5 mile snowshoe ascent (and then descent), and now here we are today… the Martine’s!!!

True love always finds a way. I adore their unique love story, and those smiles say it all!!!🥲

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I’m so deeply thankful for your love, support, and trust in me to capture the most cherished moments of your lives. It’s an incredible honor and privilege to do what I love. My passion for this craft, and the joy of connecting with amazing people like you, only grows with each passing day, month, and year.
