HEART STRING MESSAGE ALERT!!!

I have had the privilege and honor to cater for individuals from all walks of life. Most have the means and some have the means at that time. Today we prepared meals for a group to distribute to those less fortunate and the response was well received.

At the end of the event a little girl, no more than 3, walked up to me and said something that rocked me to the core. She said, “Thank you, I no hungry no more.” All I could say was your welcome as nothing else would come out. She could have bought me for 5 cents.

It put a lot of things in perspective. Some of us are driving in cars that cost more than our parents house. Outfit accessories that we have to finance just to own. Dinners that could feed a family of five for a week.

This season of plenty we have to remember there’s is a subset of people that live basically with all their belongings in a bag they carry with them.

I am guilty of all of these things and am blessed to be able to do it, but this interaction really made me think about how we take some of these things for granted and dismiss this as the norm. We all need to be a little more empathetic and mindful this holiday season. Black Friday and Cyber Monday hits a little different.
