The future of Red Hat Amphitheater is at stake🆘 Plans to move the amphitheater one block south must be approved by the Raleigh City Council. If the plans are not approved, Red Hat Amphitheater will close for good. This would be a HUGE loss for downtown and our local business community.
🎸 Impact of Red Hat Amphitheater 🎸
💰 $30 million dollars of economic impact into the area every year
📆 Hosts nearly 100 days of programming from April through January
📈 Small business owners report a significant increase in sales during events at the amphitheater
⛸ The Ice Rink boosts foot traffic during winter months. Unfortunately, there is no other place to put the Ice Rink. City Plaza is no longer available and Moore Square is not graded sufficiently and lacks the power infrastructure.
With Red Hat Amphitheater gone, venues in nearby cities would attract the types of tours that come through Raleigh. We have already seen this happen when Raleigh lost out on Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC). Since its opening, DPAC and its neighboring businesses have been setting record economic numbers and siphoning away touring Broadway shows and other events from Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts.
"The economic impact is quite measurable for us. On the days of shows, we see a lift before, during, and after the show. We and many of our neighbors depend on the crowds to bring in patrons during the spring, summer, and fall season." - Adam Eckhardt, co-owner of Crank Arm Brewing.
“The Red Hat Amphitheater, especially in 2024, has helped increase our daily numbers. On days of concerts, we see our revenue increase 100% to 200%. Losing the amphitheater isn’t an option, the amphitheater is a vital organ to our downtown ecosystem and is vital to the survival of our downtown business community. Without the foot traffic the amp brings, many of us will have no option but to close.” - Carey Kidd, co-owner of Element Gastropub.
