The end of a 50 + year old locally owned florist with this name is closing tomorrow at noon❣️🎄❣️Bittersweet times but good news around the corner with new entity setting up shop in same location with same phone number. We sincerely hope our community will support them as they have supported us for over 17 of those 50+ years 🎅🏽❣️❣️❣️🎅🏽 Many many thanks to our community & beyond❣️ 🌹🌹🌹

Awwww…. another Thanksgiving arrives !?! 😍🦃🤎🦃😍 The months do go by 😖🥹😖 . The attached & wonderful centerpiece (made U look!) helps grace a table of & entertain the eyes of happy tummies & hearts! 🍽️🧡🦃🍁🌱🌾🌱🍁🤎🦃🧡🍽️. How lucky are we to help once again!? Which wraps me around to tradition & how thankful I am to have been a tiny part of many memorable meals & gatherings in the lives of Dav@5’s amazing customers. Being at Davenport has been a rewarding part of my journey… made richest by the people l’ve enjoyed meeting & knowing. Mike & I changing gears toward end of the year. We want to take every opportunity to appreciate our customers & NOW friends that we have luckily made along the way. We want to thank you all from the very DEEPest DEPTHS for being our customer, for supporting small business, for shopping locally… for your confidence in us to be included on something as important as a meaningful gathering!! Last week, during the loveliest weather, I participated in the Blowing Rock Plein Air Festival - to push my skills; to experience that extra something that is quite different from solo effort & to show up for myself - and honestly, it is uniquely demanding! As romanticized as one can make it, being in the elements ( even when perfect) is its own experience. And yet a privilege to be able to do! Several people behind the “scenes” make it possible! Artists do not flourish alone! Support your visual ( & other) arts! This sweet location & business supported the arts by allowing numerous cars & people to dominate for half a day! Sooooo nice to pick up a drawing instrument! generously offered sketch along hour with artist Stacy Kamin. Although she used ink pen & finished with water color, I only had. 6B charcoal pencil & paper to experiment with. She started with one of my fav methods to awaken the eye: “blind contour” . Then, branched out to some looking but keeping emphasis on soft & hard edges via blind contour. Subject matter: what’s in front of you! No filter! #🖼️🙌🏼✏️👁️✏️👁️🙌🏼🖼️

Activity at the back door studio! 🎨 🐄 🎨. Anyone not driving the back roads of NC may not have noticed the romping & frolicking calves about… so many sweet little moments. You mostly have to enjoy in the moment & fill up your visual joy tank but it motivates me to try to capture a few…. These two will require a few more passes but I don’t want to lose the quick glance feel that is what happens in real time. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Long Memorial Day weekend is almost here❣️Wishing safe, restful, healthy times for all. Not trying to sell you anything this post. Davenportat5 will be closed & quiet after weekend deliveries are all made. Even tho’ at work behind the scenes, our shop “front” stated as closed on all Mondays ( but definitely will be this Monday… maybe even Tues. This is the weekend we start realizing that our customers are checking out for most of the summer… so keep that & all floral needs in mind: one needs more advance notice for orders, more patience & understanding but we want to help whenever possible❣️.
