Fresh homemade pastry, breads, confections and whatever else suits our fancy ;-)

At Kya’s Promise we donate 100% of after-tax profits to families who are adopting special needs children. We also support other causes or individuals that bless the lives of children with special needs. We are based in North Idaho and produce our confections in a home kitchen, abiding by Idaho Cottage Laws.

Did an interview/convo on a podcast yesterday telling the story of Kya's Promise.
It was emotionally exhausting... and fun... and scary... and so nice to reminisce & talk about my kiddos that have passed on.☺️🥰💔

Candy season is here and sales are only open until next Saturday night.

So far only 15 sales have come in which is well below what we usually see.
I know money is tight for many so please do not take this as anything other than WE SEE YOU. We know and understand why you may be hesitant to spend money on the frivolous.

I've made sure to keep the supply cost to the bare minimum so we can still support some waiting kiddos even if sales aren't the best this year. 🥰

Weather is terrible so I'll be working on pecan turtle bars and decorating oreos today😋 all while watching terrible romantic christmas movies🤣

It was a CRAZY last 10 days. My head pastry chef was pulled away to open up a new club location (a Bakery❤️) in New York, so I was offered the opportunity to step up and run the Thanksgiving week pastry program in her stead😳

Didn't make any fatal mistakes, got all my projects done on time, put in some massive hours because I was the only person who has been doing pastry for the last 2 years in our group, taught a pie making class to some super rich ladies, literally had 2 panic attacks and only forgot I was actually in charge like twice.

So honestly I think it went great! 🤣

Heres the final projects for the season. In honor of my amazing Chefs & Mentors, Kayla Carey-Hall & Adriana Lupercio ... you ladies ROCK and I so appreciate all you have taught me😘
And a BIG thank you to Mirella & Aubrey, this week could never have gotten done so smoothly without you both❤️

- S'mores brownie with homemade marshmallows
- Berry Tart a tart citrus curd & sweet vanilla pastry cream
- Apple Crumb cake

Today we meet with the funeral home. I HATE this part almost worse than the funeral. Everything cost money and my broken heart doesn't want to think about that right now💔

We did it ourselves and made a payment every month for 5 years after burying Kya. It was torture. When Aiden passed I just didnt want to do that again and y'all stepped up and helped us avoid that, the little extra that remained paid for Elias's burial plot.
So if anyone wants to help us do this again, we would be so grateful.
I made a square link through my business account that you can send direct donation, it has on it my absolute favorite photo of elias after we got him home and got him chunky 😁

Our plan is to do a very intimate family graveside service. This is what I want.
Simple & quiet

I absolutely appreciate all the kind words, prayers and condolences. It warms my heart that Elias and his story has touched so many people. This little man of mine was a rockstar🥰

We are expecting a cost of approximately $4000 to cover the casket, cement vault, and seperate burial services from the funeral home & cemetery. Thank you so much for always loving our kiddos and supporting our family ❤️ *Goal is an estimate may be updated upon meeting with the funeral home & ce...

I want to thank you all for the powerful prayers on behalf of our little boy. ❤️ 🙏 they absolutely were heard and answered fully.

Mr. Elias had a beautiful PEACEFUL transition into heaven early this morning. It was everything we had prayed for him.

Our hearts are broken but we will never regret our decision to travel to the other side of the globe to make him ours.

Hubby thawed a bunch of short ribs this week, so tonight I braised them with a mirepoix, herbs, sherry, lager and beef broth. After it was tender, I took all that beautiful brothy flavor and pureed it, then cooked down to thicken.
Pretty darn tasty and 75% of the cooking is hands off

Update on Mr. Man. This is Just a moment in time but what most of his morning/afternoon looked like yesterday. If you don't know.... be lucky & grateful but this is bad. VERY BAD.
02 sats should be above 88% for this kiddo (mid 90's for normal people) and his stayed in the low 80's and much worse. We had a consult with our hospice nurse, working on a comfort game plan for continued decline. We did breathing treatments every 4 hours, chest percussion and positioning to assist in airway opening. And then we prayed, you all prayed 🙏 ❤️
He climbed back up little by little throughout the day and only just this morning we are getting some spontaneous coughing of all the junk. His pulses in his hands and feet are weaker than they have been so we'll see if extra hydration has helped.

This morning his numbers are 90% and 115 heartrate which is better but not out of the woods yet.
I can say that he is peaceful, so my momma heart is comforted that he isn't stressed out regardless of what any machine says.

We've been up most of the night with our Mr. Man. He's having a rough time with his lung collapsing and a can't cough up the junk like we normally can get him too.
Dad and I are hitting him with all our " tricks" but there is only so much we can do.😭

Please pray for him with us. If it's his time to go let it be quick and peaceful, if he's not done yet pray he can get to a more stable place soon. ❤️

Our "season" at GR is on hiatus until Thanksgiving but some employees remain until our pastry kitchen is open again, SOOOOO I spent my final two days prepping employee treats to freeze for our Sous Chef to pull & thaw for them (or simple prep).
It was a fun way to use up product that was open, expiring soon or would be bad before we come back. Enjoy you guys ❤️😊

Easy, quick and delicious dinner tonight. Butter, garlic, lemon & shrimp tossed with fettuccine.

Working on my overnight sourdough technique.
The flavor 🤌😘 out of this world!
Gee will have it at this Saturday, plus a lot of other amazing fresh baked goods to purchase.

I'm donating some of my free time & baking to help her raise extra money for her sister in Mongolia, her family is working hard to build a small house big enough for their 5 children to grow up in.

A Life Changed

In a Different Package Adoptions - Special Needs Orphan Adoption Support, is the product of FOUR years of personal fundraising for adopting families. Co-founders, Jonathan and Laura Dale, began their own adoption of two children from Ukraine who have severe medical & developmental issues. During the 18 month process they made/sold items, to personally raise $45,000 of their $62,000 adoption. During the darkest times of defeat, knowing that their kids were waiting for them kept them going, funding the adoption “$5 at a time”. Leaving hundreds of children waiting for families behind the dark concrete walls of the orphanages changed their life plans FOREVER.

Once home the family began to use the knowledge gained and the skills they acquired to help lift the financial burden of other “in-process” families. During the course of these many fundraising projects the Dales have enlisted the help of Co-Founders Scott & Sandy Howard to volunteer their time & talents to complete whatever tasks was needed and they never hesitated.

Sandy and Laura have been best friends for many years, this bond was solidified in 2011 when the Dales bio daughter, passed away and again in 2019 when their adopted son passed, both from lifelong medical complications . Sandy was immediately responsive to every need and offered the love and support only a true friend could give during such a difficult time. She loves deeply and passionately. Scott & Sandy both have the purest heart for all children in any sort of need. Eight years ago Scott was asked to maintain guardianship of his niece & nephew and he did not flinch. The Howard's were the clear choice for who to co-found this charitable endeavor.

Our Founders feel it is their obligation to do all that they can to help other families that seeking to provide loving, safe homes to children with special needs. International and domestic special needs adoption support are the goal. They want to devote their time, talents and energy towards easing the burden of others through these efforts.
