Accidental Selfie, Delivery Adventures, and Christmas Chaos🌲😀

As most of my customers and friends know, I handle most of my deliveries myself unless it’s peak season. Yesterday was one of those days that reminded me why a sense of humor is essential in this business.

The day started early with a 7:30 a.m. delivery. I threw on a hat, slapped on some makeup, bundled up in layers, and rushed out the door. But in my haste, I accidentally snapped a selfie while grabbing my phone. At the time, I didn’t even realize I’d taken it. That photo now serves as the “before” moment of what turned into a hilariously chaotic day.

By midday, I was back in my studio, working among sparkles and glitter (because it’s Christmas season) and prepping my next deliveries. On my third stop, the recipient asked if I could bring the flowers to their workplace instead of their home. I agreed, parked, and suddenly realized I looked like a train wreck—mismatched scarf, windblown hair, and makeup on its last legs.

Determined not to walk into their workplace like that, I flipped down my visor and touched up my makeup, tucked my hair back, and ditched the scarf. Feeling somewhat presentable, I glanced up—and there he was. The recipient had been standing outside in the cold, watching me the whole time through my side mirror.

Mortified, I jumped out of the car, handed him the flowers, and apologized for keeping him waiting. He just smiled and graciously took the arrangement, but I’m sure he had a great story to tell his coworkers.

And when I finally saw that accidental selfie later, I had to laugh. It was a perfect snapshot of my delivery day: a little chaotic, very glittery, and full of good intentions.

🍂 I wrapped up my deliveries early today and spent the afternoon with my mom. At 91, and living with dementia, I’m so thankful for the time I have with her. After curling her hair, she let me take this sweet photo with her flowers. Moments like these mean everything.☺️
