The Doubletree by Hilton Reading held its quarterly team member rally last week. We are so appreciative of Jean Morrow from the United Way of Berks County for being our featured speaker for the rally and for helping to inform our team of the life changing impact that the United Way is making in our community and for allowing our team members the opportunity to "pay it forward" and contribute to the good works of this incredible organization. It was eye-opening for the team to see the similarities in the Missions of our two organizations. We also want to say a very special thank you to our Loaned Campaign Specialist, Sabina Parker from Penske Truck Leasing, who shared her incredibly moving story of the impact United Way has had on her family. With the recent retirement of Craig Poole, the DoubleTree team has been looking for a way to honor and celebrate Craig and the impact that he has had on this hotel and our community. The United Way campaign seemed like a perfect opportunity to do just that—during the rally we presented a check for $5,000 to the American Cancer Society of Berks County through the United Way in Honor of Craig Pool. Speaking for the team, it was an honor to give to a cause that is so meaningful to someone who has spent his entire career giving to others!

It was an honor to host Jay Worrall and the Helping Harvest Food Bank team last week. Topping off that incredible event was an email the Doubletree by Hilton Reading team received the following morning from Pam Smith who organized the event. To achieve results like these from a team of co-workers that is almost 70% "walk to work", is such an affirmation as to why this hotel was initially conceived and speaks to our ongoing Mission of investing in the residents of the City of Reading! I couldn't be prouder of this team!

Last night’s event was perfect! Thank you and your team for everything you did to make the night a huge success. Our guests are raving about the food and the service. In 30 years of doing events, this one was by far my favorite and super stressless one.

Your team is incredible. In addition to being the most professional group of people I have ever worked with, they are equally kind, generous and friendly. The vibe in the hotel was so positive…exactly what people appreciate during a time when there is way too much sadness and conflict happening…
