Our latest mix in the Local Underground RDG Series is offered by Reading native Jon Moyer, who presents a tightly woven tapestry of house, tech house, and bass tracks all designed for the dancefloor.

In this episode, Jon moves seamlessly through genres as he deftly blends tracks across a spectrum of sound. The mix bubbles to life with Jemil Deep's breaks intro before getting right to business with Daniel Dubb and M.O.N.R.O.E's "Little Helper." From there Jon Moves into tech house territory with a healthy dose of lush vocals peppering the arrangement throughout. The result is a proper underground dancefloor affair from a man with attention to detail and a knack for keen and agile mixing.

This tenth installment of the Local Underground RDG series features a silky smooth blend of progressive breaks. In this mix, Dj Rojas deftly blends a series of timeless tracks that have weathered well the two decades since the mix was recorded. Rojas weaves with finesse both heavy hitters and subtle heaters on this session, with favorites like Way Out West, Sasha, and PMT, as well as Forge, Jiva, and James Zabiela contributing to the atmosphere.

This mix by Justin Thomas Arguelles features the second installment of the Roads West series, which draws inspiration from summer excursions to Cleveland and Chicago in July 2024.

Roads West 2 begins at the same station from which Roads West 1 departed, with Jezebell's Weekend Machines, before chugging through 16 tech-house cuts designed to move your body. The pace is more brisk here in mix two, reaching speeds of 130 by mix end, but the ride is smooth in spite of the bumping basslines.

This week, Local Underground RDG is excited to offer a new mix from Plastic Loverboy, an eclectic dj based out of Easton in the Lehigh Valley. In this session, PLB guides us through a lush soundscape of broken beats, acidic sweeps, and rich percussive elements that all coalesce in an atmospheric mix that transcends genres. Twisting and turning its way through bpm transitions, the mix feels fresh while at the same time evocative of the past. We hope you enjoy this mix as much as we did, and we thank Plastic Loverboy for the contribution.

PLB describes his approach to the craft in the following way:

"My personal ethos as a DJ is to provide a conversation between the audience and me about the state of the world today. We are more so in a world that is a chaotic, meta-modern pastiche of references both sincere and cheeky that I aim to reflect in my music.

Between the various samples throughout, deep percussive tracks, and pitched-up samples, I am to reflect how our art is forming in our modern age of Kafka-esque algorithms.

I feel like we as electronic musicians have to be forward thinking enough to present to our audience what our future could look like within our time and the music choices reflect that, both with optimism and pessimism.

Lastly, I intend to showcase the audience a hazier and lusher sound that gives the audience a surreal and dreamy experience, a reflection of not how they experience the night in the present, but how they will reflect on it in the future."

Plastic Loverboy can be heard monthly at the National Sokol's Lodge 93, 613 Hillside Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18015 as part of the regular DJ residency there.

Local Underground RDG is pleased to offer this classic mix from Nate Reflect Armbuster, who has been holding it down in the Lehigh Valley for over two decades. Circa 2002-2003, "Rising Sun" features 17 well-blended cuts from a rich era in Drum & Bass music. This mix is raw and rugged. This mix is sweet and soulful. This mix is art.
