A freshly tuned piano at the Roosevelt Center is music to our ears! 🎹♫🎧ᡣ♪

Our friend Jim Guimont volunteered his time and tuned this 100+ year-old Cable Nelson upright piano that is now located outside the Roosevelt Center conference room. At one time, this piano lived inside the Roman Theater in Red Lodge playing accompaniment to silent films. Thanks for helping keep this gem playing, Jim!

The piano has been getting a lot of use lately from attendees at the Red Lodge Music Festival, Red Lodge Songwriter Festival and David and Cheryl Whitcomb's Open Mic. It even received some play during the Intermountain Ski Area Association Conference. We welcome everyone to stop by and play us a tune during business hours Mon-Fri 9-5 p.m.

Happy Solstice! On the longest day of the year, the Roosevelt Center is thankful for its new 18,000kWh solar array. ☀️🕶🌞🌻

Enjoy these photos from the solar power dedication ceremony! We invited the community to come celebrate the occasion, have a popsicle, paint a rock with Red Lodge Artist Beth Korth and celebrate World Environment day.

We also welcomed people to slap a sticker on one of the former Miami Beach chairlift towers that now support the array.

Since the panels were brought online earlier this month, they've saved the Roosevelt Center about $250.00 in electricity.

The Roosevelt Center is thankful to have had such wonderful sponsors and local installers that helped see the solar project to fruition, including: NorthWestern Energy, Generous Anonymous Donor, Red Lodge Mountain, Sundance Solar ,Back Alley Metals, HMH Electric, Red Lodge Tree Service.

Recap time! The final David and Cheryl Whitcomb's Open Mic for the season was a smashing success. So many amazing performances were had! Shout out to Roosevelt Center tenant artist Sheila Johns for leading rock painting during the event.

Huge thanks is due to David and Cheryl Whitcomb for making this fun event possible, along with Red Lodge Songwriters Festival.

Another tenant artist, Justin Satterfield, deserves thanks too, for always bringing instruments and helping run sound at every open mic in the series.

Open mic is on hiatus for the summer, but keep an eye out for more dates to be announced when the school is back in session!

New art exhibits are up at the Roosevelt Center!

Kevin Jam has paintings up in the entryway gallery. A former student at the Roosevelt School, Jam has come full circle now showing his acrylic work at the Roosevelt Center.

In the first floor hall, you can find work of Red Lodge artist Dorci Newman Tremblay. She describes her painting's subject matter as "semi-abstract landscapes and figures combined to create 'figure landscapes.'"

Last but not least, the second floor hall features quilts by Rita Ortiz. Admire the intricate stitching and hours of work put into these functional art pieces.

An Evening of New Works with Carol Hartman and Henry Blond

Date: April 9, 2024 (One evening only)
Reception: April 9, 2024, 5:00-9:00PM in Roosevelt Center Conference Room

Carol Hartman and Henry Blond Art will be hosting an art reception of their most recent artwork at the Red Lodge Roosevelt Center the evening of Thursday, May 9th, 5:00-9:00PM. You are invited to come and enjoy the evening with them!

Many of Hartman’s large contemporary abstracts will be on display before going into storage for a 2025 museum show in Arizona. Her oil paintings, spanning from 4 feet up to 19 feet in width, reflect upon the effect of mankind’s interaction with the environment. Her recent artwork explores the emotional and environmental impact of the 2023 train derailment over the Yellowstone River, fracking in Eastern Montana, and Butte’s Berkely Pit reclamation project.

Henry Blond, currently working in New Mexico, brings to Red Lodge the beginnings of a new body of figurative oil paintings. The series, “Displaced Memory”, explores a recollection and a reframing of narrative through decontextualization of the figure. The work calls on a nostalgic past that is repositioned into the present within a contemporary dynamic.

Just one of the many awesome things happening under the Roosevelt Center roof! Congratulations Code Girls and Hero's STEAM Center crew on an amazing showing at their competition!

Congratulations to all Hero’s Code Girls! Yesterday they competed in the NW App Challenge and did a great job (it was a long, but exciting day). Each team presented to 3 panels of judges that joined remotely from all around the country. By the end of the event, the Bear Aware App Team (top row) finished in 3rd place and will share a $3000.00 Scholarship! Their app educates residents and tourists about the dangers of bears and how to protect one’s self. The Carpool Buddies App Team did a great job presenting too. Their app is meant to help people in rural areas (such as Carbon County) find drivers that are willing to share rides. We are so proud of the hard work and dedication these teams put in throughout the entire school year. Go CODE GIRLS and we hope you’ll join again next year!
