Here is my flavor guide! Each row is a 4-piece box. I can add a milk chocolate caramel in to make a 5-piece box. I am sold out of the 20-piece box, but could combine 5 of the 4-piece boxes to make one. There would be an additional fee to cover the upgrade.

Thank you, chocolate lovers, for making the first-ever California Chocolate Expo an incredible experience! Your enthusiasm and support were absolutely thrilling, and we are so grateful to everyone who attended, participated, and helped bring this event to life.

What Made the Day So Special
We were blown away by the incredible energy and love for chocolate in Redding. Many of our vendors have shared that this was their best event ever, with one vendor saying, “Normally, these events have about 50% samplers and 50% shoppers. But at this expo, it felt like 90% were shopping AND sampling! We’ve never seen anything like it.”

Redding truly showed up hungry for craft chocolate, and while this high engagement led to 7 vendors selling out earlier than expected, it also showed how much excitement there is for chocolate in our community. We want to extend a special thank-you to the 12 vendors who were still sampling at the very end and to those who had product available throughout the day.

Acknowledging Challenges and Our Commitment to Improvement
As with any inaugural event, we faced some challenges and are actively working to resolve them:
- Crowding and Line Wait Times: We didn’t anticipate such a concentrated arrival of guests all at once, which led to long lines and crowding. While our professional attendance capacity was 2,500, we capped the event at 1,740 to ensure safety and comfort. This number includes ticketed guests, vendors, volunteers, staff, and the guests that didn't use their tickets. Only 170 tickets were sold at the door, which we allowed, because they had waited in line before we could make the official “sold out” announcement.
- Inventory Shortages: Some vendors ran out of samples or product earlier than planned because of the high volume of enthusiastic shoppers and samplers. This feedback helps us and our vendors plan for even better experiences in the future.

We are actively exploring:
- A VIP Package that includes early entry.
- ADA early entry options.
- Expanding to a two-day event to reduce crowds and give vendors more time to prep additional product and samples. This will also be beneficial to the cottage bakers that are not permitted to prepare samples on site.
- Alternate venues to accommodate our growing audience while keeping vendor costs fair.

What We’re Excited About for the Next Expo
Our goal is to create a cherished annual event that celebrates craft chocolate and brings our community together. For those new to this concept, a craft chocolate event is about gathering small, independent chocolatiers and makers in one place to showcase their creations. Your admission fee supports the event’s production and the experience of having so many unique offerings in one place.

For our next event, we’re working on:
- Expanding our Premium Package from a souvenir package into a VIP package with early entry and more chocolate.
- Booking more live demonstrations (we apologize for our bonbon demonstrator’s last-minute cancellation).

We learned so much from this first event and are listening carefully to feedback from patrons, vendors, volunteers, and staff. We are committed to making the California Chocolate Expo better each year while maintaining its heart—a celebration of craft chocolate and community.
