Alright … so this happened last night: and I opened a second location of the // at the center

-

We have so many feelings and so much to say about this, that it would probably exceed the capture count. Let’s just say we are over the moon and so proud of this accomplishment. This has been a dream of ours for a long time, and yesterday, it came true. (Partially)

-

Partially because, for now, this is a short-tem lease, but hopefully temp to permanent space at the Manhattan Village center. And even though is currently temporary, it is definitely one step closer to our permanent spot in the city.

-

We keep hearing, “oh, wow! Manhattan Beach?!, the business must be doing well!” — Well, let’s talk about “well”….

-

Well, Sandra and I work 7 days a week, Sandra and I average 5-6 hours of sleep per night, Sandra and I sacrifice tons of time with friends and family, Sandra and I have poured our sweat, tears and soul into this business for the last 8 + years, Sandra and I don’t say “no” and definitely don’t take “no” for an answer… so, well, here we are !

-

We still have so many dreams and so many long-term goals for this business of ours ! We will keep checking them off the list, one-by-one !

-

For now, we want to thank all of our clients, family, friends who have supported us through this journey and who are a big part and reason of our success ! Thanks to everyone that came by for the ribbon cutting ceremony, sent messages and have cheered us on. Who left us good reviews, referred us to friends, and who continue to support our small business.

Very often I get asked this one question: How did you start your business ? — The simple answer is: I fell in love with event planning when I planned my own wedding.

-

The complete answer however, is a lot more complex than that. I knew from the moment I was a little girl, that I was going to have my own business. I was 100% born with the entrepreneurial blood in my veins, and my passion was “to have my own business” Planning my own wedding helped me combine my some of biggest passions in life: My own business and Parties ! - if you know me, you know that I love a good party ! Haha

-

So, it’s only fitting that my birthday is on the 4th of July ! I have planned so many parties however, that for my own birthday party, all I wanted was “ a DJ at the beach” - The thought of loading, unloading, setting up and breaking down my party, did not sound fun to me ! This time I wanted to party, not work the party, haha

-

So that’s what I did ! (well, kind of) I hired a DJ, and 2 days before my party, a decided I wanted a “little setup after all”

-

So I hired some “heavy lifting” help, and finally got to enjoy some of our beautiful beach picnics where we are typically only creating for our clients. And I am so glad I did it ! Of course, it was more than “just a little setup” and I ultimately did end up doing some of the work… like I like to say “The party is over, but the “FUN” never ends (Scroll left to see the breakdown)

I had a real blast on my birthday, dancing and eating with my friends ! It was one of my personal favorite parties !

And suddenly, BOOM 💥

-

From no weddings and no gatherings to “sort of back to normal ?” The official date may have been on the 15th, but this entire month so far, has felt like an avalanche. All my friends in the Event Industry seem to be overwhelmed, frazzled, exhausted, and happy at the same time. It’s been so insane, I just realized I haven’t posted on my feed in over a month — seriously, there’s has been no time for that (am I am sure I am being penalized by the Instagram algorithm)

-

Everyone trying to figure out how to fit 2 years in to 1 year. Yes, there’s demand, yes, there is a boom — but supply, that’s a bit challenging still. Many companies are still not back to normal, and sometimes in the event business, is not like we can just take on 2-3 events a day. Most people are small business, working with clients one-on-one on what is the most important day of their lives. Making up for “business loss” is not realistic and physically impossible.

-

The last 3 weeks + has been insane, and already got me thinking, how will a work life balance happen, with this crazy boom? After not working for practically a year, I am excited and ready to get back out there, but at the same time, COVID had its benefits, like allowing time to spend with family and have free weekends to spend at the beach.

-

Finding the balance will definitely be the challenge, but for now, I am taking advantage of this ONE free weekend I have, and will treasure the opportunity to sleep in 🙏🏻

-

Hang in there my friends. Our passion is what get us through all the 4 hours of sleep. If you are in the event industry, it’s because it is TRUE LOVE. Only we know the sacrifices we make to live through our passions and dreams.

Let the floodgates open! Oh the excitement! Inquiries are pouring in, weddings are coming back, celebrations are happening !

Don’t get me wrong, the pandemic was a forced and MUCH needed break, but my Duracell built in batteries are fully recharged !

Oh, and this jump is also because Vegas is reopening and I am beyond excited to see one favorite DJs play again. I will just have to find a free weekend 😉

Exactly 19 years ago, I was getting on a plane for the first time in my life. I was leaving my small country town with a population of 120,000 people, to land in Los Angeles - Not speaking a word of English, I was supposed stay here just for a year, and the goal was to become fluent in English

Fast forward 19 YEARS, and I am still here (and still learning English, lol)

-

I am very thankful for the opportunity I was given to be here, and very proud of the life I created here over the past almost 2 decades

-

It definitely seemed different the last few years, but this is still the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave

-

Yes ! You can do it all, and no, you can’t do all ! 🤪

-

As a business owner, we end up wearing many (actually all) hats when your company is in the growing phase. It is normal to experience growing pains, and coming to certain haunts on how to scale your business. At the end of the day, there’s only one of you, and only so many hours in a day, and so many days in a week, and so many weeks in a month and so many months in a year. You can’t physically or mentally do it all, and even if you do for a certain period of time, you will burn out !

-

So what do you do ? Learn the value, power and cost-benefit to outsource some of the tasks — recognize your strengths, and hire people to help you with your weaknesses. Spend your valuable time thinking on how to bring more business, grow your revenue, etc. and get help to support you on those tasks that take time and are necessary, but that don’t really affect the bottom line.

-

I struggle with this concept myself, as of course this comes with overhead expenses, but in the end, the benefits outweigh the costs, as it saves me time - and with more time, I can focus on what I do best.

-

OMG ! I am definitely out of “event shape” lol

Yesterday we had 3 different events. A balloon install at the mall with , a rental and setup delivery for and a beautiful party planned by

-

My total steps was a little over 14,000, and the first delivery was at 8 am, and I was at the party until 1:00 am. It had been a long time since we last embraced this type of event marathon!

-

At some point I asked myself — did I really do this almost every single weekend in the past ? Lol

-

Definitely felt good to be busy, and back out there, but today, the event hangover hit hard ! Lol

-

Glad it was a sunny day and so jealous of you that got a day at the beach today. I was a zombie for most of the day !

OMG. stoked that we finally have some REAL guidelines effective today, on how to finally be able to have events and gatherings !

We have been waiting for this moment for over a year now, and there’s finally some clarity on any restrictions, some real guidance on what is allowed and permitted, and the new protocols we will have to adhere to facilitate events such weddings.
