In 1969 I was 13 years old. I decided to leave my temple, the choir, my hebrew lessons, and did not get Bat Mitzvah'd. I attended the growing bay area movement of revolutionary thinkers against the Vietnam war, and the call for peace, love, and soul! I was taught by my parents to respect all people, therefore, I could not align myself with the idea of "us and them" in my temple during the conflicts that have never stopped. I am proud of my Jewish roots and history but I am not proud of "mankind" and the violence that ensues over dwindling inhabitable land. As an adult I tried to find a temple that did not endorse Zionism, and could not. I stand against genocide anywhere on this earth.

Lil b AKA Brian Perez is a street dancer born and raised in the Bay Area who started his dance journey in 2007 focusing on locking, popping, gloving, and hip hop. He has entered competitions, battles, and taught in studios across California, Las Vegas, New York, Japan, Philippines, and Beijing. His previous works include performing in music videos for Avicii & Nadia Ali and being featured on So You Think You Can Dance Season 12. He’s a member of Unortholockx, Groovmekanex, and the co-founder of Dance Over Styles Crew. Brian is extremely passionate about teaching and passing on the knowledge and foundations gained from his mentors and travels to the students at MPAD!
