This is my wholly unsolicited review of Baxter Robertson new release "Patchwork Man" available at https://baxterrobertson.bandcamp.com/album/patchwork-man

Having seen Baxter play at my Club so many times with so
many talented musicians, I expected to hear good music on his
new release Patchwork Man, but I sure did not expect what I
got.

Every single song is solid. The lyrics are interesting, fun, perfectly crafted, and visual but not too dense or sparse. Each word or part thereof is sung perfectly, hitting the hooks and
intertwining seamlessly with the pumping groove of each tune.

I don’t even know where to start with the music itself. The only
way I can describe it is that it folds into itself. While every
musician is ripping, no one steps on each other’s toes or
showboats over the groove. It's as if they are all one voice,
a brilliant conversation, profound, fun, and meaningful.
I would put the musicianship and the collective expression
of Patchwork Man on par with the best I have heard.

The selection of songs taps delightfully into Baxter’s mind. He
is clearly influenced by a wide variety of genres, ranging from
traditional to contemporary. On that note, “Soul Francisco”
was especially meaningful to me, in that it stood out as a reminder of what wonderful music has come from our home turf.

Patchwork is the kind of CD you slip into your dashboard player,
and it makes you want to keep driving to someplace beautiful.
But then you realize, you are already there.
