“Cartoonist Extraordinaire”
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Michael Hopkins grew up inspired by the art of former Seattle Post Intelligencer cartoonist Bob McCausland, and the humor of Seattle icon, J.P. Patches. As far as Michael can remember, he began drawing in the 3rd grade by creating 'art' down the sides of his classwork (no doubt inspired by Mad Magazine) and continued to cultivate his art throughout his school years. In High School, Michael was introduced to the art of Pen & Ink by his Art Instructor and Mentor, Ebo Okiyama. Since then, Michael has continued to perfect his craft.
Michael is currently residing in the 'Biggest Little City in the World', Reno Nevada. Where he continues to create his unique works of art. All of Michael's caricatures are drawn using the classic art form of pens and black India Ink. Due to the advancement and ease of technology, this classic form of drawing is becoming a lost art, one which Michael is perfecting with each stroke of his pen. Michael's unique drawings have been published and exhibited all over the world. Michael has proven and continues to prove that the pen is indeed mightier than the sword (or the computer program)
