Reno Sculpture Fest usually doesn't post 'sponsored' content from an ad agency but when we saw the mural highlighted in This Is Reno we thought what the heck - congratulations to the artist, Abner Rivera.

A new outdoor mural located on the north facing wall of the Carson City Visitors Center, on the corner of Carson Street and Washington Street, is the city’s newest form of public art.

The Nevada Independent has been writing about the devastation to performers, artists, theatre, philharmonics, museums, etc. during the COVID-19 pandemic:
Tracey Oliver saw the devastation firsthand. She serves as the executive director for the Sierra Arts Foundation, a nonprofit based out of Reno, Nevada focused on bringing the voices of the creative community together through programs including artist grants and youth arts initiatives. “We received a lot of notices [that] there was no rent money, there's no food money,” Oliver said. “I personally know of artists that ended up living in their cars.”

Amidst the safety restrictions, the Entertainment Capital of the World went dark, with a shuttered arts industry contributing to record-breaking unemployment in Southern Nevada.

Thanks to the RGJ Reno Gazette Journal for writing about this Sierra Arts Foundation artists outdoor market at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 1-5PM. Reno Sculpture Fest attended the artist market around the holidays last year and everyone loved the gifts we purchased ... so make sure you go and support artists who have been hit hard by this pandemic.
